Busan Good Gang-An Hospital proves its international medical capabilities by hosting Filipino medical professionals for an observation of its 'Emergency Medical System,' opening a new chapter for medical cooperation between the two countries.

[Busan=Newswire] Good Gang-An Hospital, located in Suyeong-gu, Busan, hosted over 20 Filipino medical professionals on June 19 to share South Korea's advanced emergency medical system and hospital operation know-how. This visit not only reaffirmed Good Gang-An Hospital's status as an internationally competent medical institution but also laid a crucial foundation for medical cooperation between South Korea and the Philippines.

Filipino Medical Professionals Focus on Korean Emergency Medical System The delegation that visited Good Gang-An Hospital consisted of 20 individuals, including 13 key medical professionals such as prominent neurologists and psychiatrists from the Philippines. They expressed particular interest in emergency response systems within the psychiatry and neurology fields. It is understood that the Filipino medical professionals initiated this visit to benchmark advanced Korean cases to improve and develop their own medical system.

Starting at 2 PM, the delegation attended a hospital briefing to understand Good Gang-An Hospital's overall operational philosophy and treatment system. Dr. Woo-Young Seo from the Department of Laboratory Medicine led the briefing, providing detailed explanations of efficient operational methods and systematic patient response systems in Korean medical institutions. The emergency medical system and foreign patient treatment capabilities, which Good Gang-An Hospital prides itself on, left a strong impression on the Filipino medical professionals. They engaged in an in-depth Q&A session on how Korea's rapid and accurate emergency response system could be applied to their country's medical realities.

One Filipino medical professional stated, "Korea's approach to psychiatric and neurological emergency situations provides us with very important insights. We hope to apply what we learned from this visit to our own medical system to provide better medical services to patients." Due to its geographical characteristics, the Philippines experiences frequent disasters, and many regions have relatively low medical accessibility, leading to a strong demand for strengthening its emergency medical system. In this context, Good Gang-An Hospital's case garnered attention as a model that could offer practical assistance for the development of Filipino healthcare.

Laying the Foundation for International Cooperation and Future Plans This initial visit has opened the door for continuous exchange and cooperation between Good Gang-An Hospital and Filipino medical institutions. Both parties agreed to explore diverse forms of cooperation in the future, including tailored programs for medical staff training, academic exchanges, and even joint research projects. Good Gang-An Hospital anticipates this visit to be a significant starting point for expanding international cooperation in the long term, rather than being a one-off event.

Good Gang-An Hospital has long been actively involved in foreign patient care and international cooperation. It has contributed to the spread of the Korean Wave in medicine by treating patients of various nationalities, including Mongolian, Russian, and Filipino, and has taken the lead in disseminating Korea's advanced medical technology and systems through foreign medical professional training programs. Furthermore, through close collaboration with the Busan Medical Tourism Council, the hospital actively participates in multinational medical tourism programs, solidifying its position as a leading medical institution in Busan.

Enhancing the International Standing of Korean Medicine The visit of Filipino medical professionals to Good Gang-An Hospital is another example that reconfirms the international standing of Korean medicine. It demonstrates that the Korean Wave, represented by K-POP and K-Dramas, is expanding beyond cultural content into the medical field. Korea's excellent medical technology and systematic medical system are becoming benchmarks for not only developing countries but also developed nations. In particular, Korea has rapidly achieved economic growth, established a universal healthcare coverage system, and integrated information and communication technology (ICT) into healthcare to maximize efficiency, leading many countries to pay close attention to the Korean medical model.

The exchange between Good Gang-An Hospital and Filipino medical professionals is expected to contribute not only to the development of healthcare in both countries but also to the revitalization of human exchange, going beyond the simple transfer of medical technology. Attention is drawn to what roles Good Gang-An Hospital will play in the international community to further elevate the status of Korean medicine. Such international cooperation will positively impact national healthcare development beyond just the hospital's growth.
