Lee Min-woo, a Korean-Australian golfer, has surged to the top of the leaderboard at the prestigious Players Championship, often referred to as the "fifth major" on the PGA Tour.

On the second day of the tournament, held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Lee carded a stellar 6-under-par 66. His round included seven birdies and a lone bogey, propelling him to a 11-under-par 133 total. He now shares the lead with American golfer Akshay Bhatia.

Lee's round began on the 10th hole, where he immediately notched a birdie. He continued his strong play with consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th holes, finishing the front nine at 3-under-par. The back nine saw Lee catch fire, as he recorded birdies on the 1st hole and then reeled off three straight birdies from the 3rd to 5th holes. A bogey on the final hole, the 9th, was the only blemish on an otherwise impressive round.

Lee Min-woo is the younger brother of LPGA star Lee Min-jee, who won the 2022 U.S. Women's Open. While Lee has yet to secure a victory on the PGA Tour, he has three wins on the DP World Tour and one on the Asian Tour.

J.J. Spaun, who shared the overnight lead, slipped to third place at 10-under-par.

Other Notable Performances:

Kim Si-woo: The 2017 Players Championship winner finished at 3-under-par, tied for 36th place.
An Byeong-hun and Im Sung-jae: Both golfers are tied for 49th place at 2-under-par.
Kim Joo-hyung: Sits at 1-under-par, tied for 65th place.
Lee Kyoung-hoon: Failed to make the cut, finishing at 4-over-par.
Rory McIlroy: The world number two is tied for fourth place at 9-under-par.
Scottie Scheffler: The defending champion is tied for 16th place at 5-under-par.
Lee Min-woo now has a chance to win the biggest prize in golf, 25 million dollars.
