Jakarta Business Forum…Governor Kim Tae-heum: "See Chungnam's excellent products at the export consultation."

Chungnam Province Governor Kim Tae-heum, on his first official schedule during his trip to Indonesia, met with businesspeople and buyers in Jakarta to introduce the excellent products and technological capabilities of Chungnam companies. He urged interest and participation in the export consultation organized by the Chungnam Overseas Market Development Delegation.

Governor Kim attended the '2025 Chungcheongnam-do Jakarta Business Forum' held on the 26th at the Sheraton Hotel in Jakarta.

The event was organized to establish a sustainable economic partnership between Chungnam and Jakarta, ahead of the signing of a 'Letter of Intent on Sister City Cooperation'.

In attendance were Governor Kim, along with Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno, Korean Ambassador to Indonesia (Chargé d'affaires) Park Soo-deok, KOTRA Jakarta Director Lee Jang-hee, Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Indonesia Chairman Lee Kang-hyun, Jakarta Johan Lakma New Distribution Supply Association Chairman, Hendrik Purnomo Construction Association Chairman, and about 120 Indonesian business and organization representatives, officials, buyers, and businesspeople from the Chungnam Overseas Market Development Delegation.

The forum proceeded with a welcoming address by Governor Kim, a congratulatory speech by Vice Governor Rano Karno, a briefing by Chungcheongnam-do Indonesia Office Director Ha Won-jeong, and celebratory performances.

Governor Kim expressed his cordiality, stating, "Korea and Indonesia have built trust for over half a century since establishing diplomatic ties in 1973. In 2017, our relationship was elevated to a 'Special Strategic Partnership,' and in 2023, the 'Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement' also came into effect, building an even stronger cooperative relationship."

He then introduced Chungnam, saying, "Chungnam is a leading export region in South Korea, possessing world-class competitiveness in various fields, from high-tech manufacturing to agricultural and marine products, cosmetics, and consumer goods."

He added, "Indonesia is ASEAN's largest economy, called 'Post-China,' and is a young and dynamic country attracting global attention. Combining Chungnam's innovative products and technology with Indonesia's infinite growth potential will lead to a new dimension of common prosperity."

Governor Kim particularly emphasized, "Chungnam will stand at the forefront of Korea-Indonesia economic cooperation and actively support the shared growth of businesspeople from both countries."

After introducing that the Jakarta overseas office was opened in 2021 and has been supporting exchange and cooperation between companies in both regions through export consultations and exhibitions, he brought up the export consultation to be held on the 27th and requested, "Please take the time to confirm the excellent products and technological capabilities of Chungnam companies and create new opportunities in the market."

Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno said, "Through this forum, Chungnam and Jakarta will gain an amazing opportunity to exchange new ideas, build partnerships, and unleash potential in various industrial sectors."

Vice Governor Rano Karno continued, "Jakarta's commitment to economic growth is unwavering. I am confident that by working with Chungnam, which has shown excellent leadership in fostering outstanding companies, our two regions can create synergy to move towards a brighter future."

Director Ha Won-jeong stated in her briefing, "Over the past three years, we have achieved export performance of $5.3 million by expanding export items such as fresh fruits, consumer goods, and industrial materials."

She also mentioned, "We have provided support for export contracts, buyer discovery, and export difficulties for 304 companies in the province, and during the urea solution crisis, we worked to bring urea solution into Korea through resource-rich Indonesia."

Moving forward, she emphasized, "We will support the entry of companies in the province in line with various policies, such as welfare, being pursued by the new Indonesian government, and also promote support for attracting international students."

Meanwhile, Governor Kim attracted attention by continuing sales activities for Chungnam, personally meeting local businesspeople even after the forum concluded.

Indonesia boasts the world's fourth-largest population (over 280 million people), a productive population (15-64 years old) exceeding 70%, and abundant natural resources, making it Southeast Asia's largest consumer market with high growth rates.

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is the center of economy, commerce, and administration, with major national institutions and corporate headquarters concentrated there, accounting for 17% of Indonesia's GDP.
