Cheonan Enhances Safety for Young Single-Person Households with Security Camera Support Program

Cheonan, South Korea – Cheonan City is actively addressing the safety concerns of its burgeoning young, single-person household population with the launch of an expanded 'Safety Security Cam Installation Support Project'. The initiative aims to provide enhanced security measures and a greater sense of security for young adults living alone in the city, particularly those who are new to the Cheonan area. Applications for the program are being accepted until May 18th.

The program offers crucial security infrastructure to eligible young residents, including the installation of wireless closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, door opening sensors that alert residents to unauthorized entry, and SOS emergency buttons that provide immediate access to a 24-hour emergency dispatch service for a period of one year. This comprehensive security package is designed to act as a significant deterrent to crime and provide a vital lifeline in emergency situations.

Building upon the success of its pilot program last year, which supported 63 individuals, Cheonan City has significantly increased its commitment to the safety of young adults by expanding the program to support 100 individuals in the current year. This expansion underscores the city's dedication to fostering a secure and welcoming environment for its younger residents.

Eligibility for the program is open to single individuals aged between 19 and 39 who have officially moved into Cheonan City and have maintained residency for a minimum of six months. This requirement ensures that the support is directed towards those who have recently integrated into the Cheonan community and may be more vulnerable due to their unfamiliarity with the local environment. Detailed information regarding the specific eligibility criteria and the application process can be accessed through the official website of the Cheonan Youth Center Ieum.

The implementation of this vital safety initiative is underpinned by collaborative partnerships forged between Cheonan City and key stakeholders in law enforcement and the security industry. In the previous year, the city formalized agreements with the Cheonan Seobuk Police Station, the Cheonan Dongnam Police Station, and leading security service providers SK Shielders Co., Ltd., and Woongjin Security System Co., Ltd. These partnerships are crucial for the seamless operation of the 24-hour emergency dispatch service and ensure a coordinated response in the event of an emergency.

A representative from Cheonan City emphasized the paramount importance of creating a safe living environment for young residents, stating, "Our priority is to ensure that the young people of Cheonan are not exposed to the threat of crime and can live their lives with peace of mind. We firmly believe that the Safety Security Cam Installation Support Project will play a significant role in achieving this goal, allowing young adults to feel secure and thrive in our city."

This proactive initiative by Cheonan City reflects a growing awareness of the unique safety challenges faced by single-person households, particularly young adults who may be more vulnerable to crime. By providing tangible security measures and readily available emergency support, Cheonan is setting a positive example for urban centers seeking to enhance the well-being and security of their young adult residents. The expansion of the program signifies a continued commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of this demographic within the Cheonan community.
