ENCARNACION, July 3, 2025 – St. Mary's Nursing Home in Encarnacion has received G. 125 million (approximately 22 million Korean Won) in donations and facility improvements through the 26th annual charity run event. Hosted by the Autonomous University of Encarnacion (UNAE), the event concluded successfully with warm support and participation from the local community.

This substantial donation was made possible by the active involvement of students and their families, alumni, various local private businesses, civil society organizations, and public institutions. They united for the noble cause of supporting the elderly, donating necessary supplies to the nursing home and undertaking facility improvement work. UNAE has consistently held its charity run event annually since 2000, and this year, St. Mary's Nursing Home was selected as the beneficiary, expected to greatly assist many elderly residents.

Extensive Support for Kitchen Modernization with Industrial Equipment and Tableware

Among the items delivered to the nursing home, a significant portion consisted of industrial and semi-industrial appliances, which are expected to greatly enhance the efficiency of the nursing home's kitchen. Specifically, various pieces of equipment designed to optimize food preparation and cooking processes were donated, including industrial ovens, large mixers, blenders, and slicers.

Additionally, kitchen facility improvements were carried out, such as the installation of stainless steel countertops, cabinets, and shelves. Efforts were also made to improve the overall internal environment, including painting the entire space and reorganizing electrical facilities. The kitchen was also abundantly stocked with utensils. A variety of pots and pans of different sizes, cooking tool sets, and a complete set of hygienic and practical tableware made of stainless steel, including cups, plates, and bowls, were donated to allow approximately 60 elderly residents to dine simultaneously.

Generous Support for Enhanced Living Comfort and Welfare

In addition to kitchen facility improvements, various items aimed at improving the quality of daily life for the elderly were delivered. New televisions and sofas were provided, allowing residents to spend their leisure time in a more comfortable environment.

Crucially, essential daily necessities and hygiene products, such as medicines, adult diapers, and socks, were sufficiently supplied to support the health and hygiene of the elderly. These items are vital for the basic sustenance and health management of the residents, making this donation even more significant.

A Successful Event Forged by Community Collaboration and Dedication

The donation ceremony was led by UNAE President Nadia Czeraniuk, other university officials, parents from Divina Esperanza School, and students and teachers. Griseld Grisueña, Director of St. Mary's Nursing Home, expressed profound gratitude, emphasizing the critical importance of these contributions to the well-being of the nursing home residents.

UNAE's charity run event, consistently held for 26 years since 2000, serves as an exemplary model of an education-community linkage project. It demonstrates the university's deep commitment to the local community and contributes to fostering valuable civic consciousness among students. This annually sustained project symbolizes the social commitment, value education, and civic participation of the entire educational community. As this year's beneficiary, St. Mary's Nursing Home plays a pivotal role in caring for numerous elderly residents within the Encarnacion area, making this support a significant testament to UNAE's ongoing efforts in local community welfare. We look forward to UNAE's charitable activities continuing to have a positive impact on the community.
