Hwaseong, South Korea – Shinsegae Hwaseong, a subsidiary of Shinsegae Group, announced today that its highly anticipated Hwaseong International Theme Park has officially been designated as a tourism complex by the Gyeonggi-do provincial government. This marks a significant milestone for the project, which has been in the works for nearly two decades.

Slated to be the largest tourism complex in Gyeonggi-do and the first of its kind in Hwaseong City, the park will feature a wide range of attractions, including a world-class theme park, water park, shopping mall, golf course, hotels, resorts, and residential complexes.

The project has faced numerous challenges over the years but gained significant momentum in recent years. Shinsegae Properties consortium was selected as the preferred bidder in 2019, and since then, the company has been working diligently to secure necessary permits and finalize the master plan.

A key highlight of the project is its partnership with Paramount Global, a leading global media and entertainment company. The partnership will bring iconic characters and franchises from Paramount's vast library to the theme park, creating a truly immersive experience for visitors.

"We are thrilled to see the Hwaseong International Theme Park move closer to reality," said [Name], CEO of Shinsegae Hwaseong. "This project will not only transform the local landscape but also contribute significantly to the growth of South Korea's tourism industry."

Economic Impact and Tourism Potential

The theme park is expected to have a substantial economic impact on the region, creating thousands of jobs and attracting millions of visitors annually. Its strategic location, with excellent accessibility to Seoul and Incheon International Airport, makes it a prime destination for both domestic and international tourists.

Furthermore, the park's proximity to natural attractions such as the Dinosaur Egg Fossil Site is expected to boost tourism in the surrounding areas.

Next Steps

Shinsegae Hwaseong is now focused on developing a detailed construction plan, which is expected to be approved by 2025. Groundbreaking is scheduled for 2026, with the grand opening slated for 2029.

Government Support

The Gyeonggi-do provincial government and Hwaseong City have pledged their full support for the project. Both entities have been actively working to streamline the permitting process and provide necessary assistance to ensure the timely completion of the theme park.

With its unique blend of entertainment, culture, and nature, the Hwaseong International Theme Park is poised to become a major tourist destination in Asia.
