On Saturday the 24th, Jeju Island and the southern regions will experience heavy rain and strong winds due to the influence of the 30th Typhoon "Champi."

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), rain clouds formed as water vapor flowing in from Typhoon "Champi" and the subtropical high-pressure system to the east of the Korean Peninsula met with cold air lingering around the peninsula.

The rain clouds, which began in Jeju Island the previous day, are gradually moving northward. While the nationwide weather will be mostly cloudy today, rain is expected mainly centered around the southern regions and Jeju Island.

Drizzle is also anticipated in parts of southern Gyeonggi Province, central and southern Gangwon Province, Gangwon's east coast and mountainous areas, and the Chungcheong region.

Heavy rain advisories and warnings are currently in effect for Jeju Island, and the KMA urged the public to take thorough precautions against potential damage, as heavy rainfall is also expected primarily along the southern coast.

In addition, due to the influence of Typhoon Champi and the high-pressure system, the baric gradient force has strengthened, causing strong winds. Strong wind warnings are currently in effect for Jeju Island.

Winds are expected to blow strongly in the southern coast today, and across most parts of the country starting from the night of the 25th, requiring caution regarding facility management and safety accidents.

The expected precipitation through the 26th is 80 to 150 mm for Jeju (over 200 mm in many places, and over 250 mm in mountainous and mid-mountain areas), and 30 to 80 mm for Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do (over 120 mm in many places, particularly the southern coast of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do).

Other expected amounts include 20 to 70 mm for Gwangju and Jeollanam-do (over 100 mm in many places along the southern coast of Jeollanam-do), 5 to 50 mm for southeastern Jeollabuk-do, 5 to 30 mm for Jeollabuk-do (excluding the southeastern part), 20 to 60 mm for Daegu and southern Gyeongsangbuk-do, 5 to 40 mm for central and northern Gyeongsangbuk-do, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, 5 to 10 mm for the Chungcheong region, around 5 mm for central and southern Gangwon Province, 5 to 10 mm for Gangwon's east coast and mountainous areas, and under 5 mm for southern Gyeonggi Province.

Today's daytime high temperatures are projected to range between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, the central regions will be partly cloudy, becoming mostly cloudy from the afternoon. In the afternoon, sporadic rain is expected in parts of the Chungcheong region and Gangwon's east coast and mountainous areas.

Sunday's morning low temperatures are forecast to be 8 to 18 degrees Celsius, and daytime high temperatures 18 to 24 degrees Celsius.
