New York, NY – The 39th Korean American Association of New York (KAANY), under the leadership of its newly elected President Myung-suk Lee, officially commenced its term on May 1st, signaling a new chapter for the vibrant Korean community in the city. The inauguration was marked by the first official meeting of the association's board of directors, a gathering that laid the groundwork for a proactive and inclusive approach to community development and unity.

The inaugural board meeting brought together the newly appointed executive members and directors, fostering a collaborative environment for the articulation of key objectives and strategic initiatives. Central to the discussions were the paramount goals of bolstering the rights and interests of the Korean American populace in New York, nurturing the growth of next-generation leaders within the community, and fortifying collaborative relationships with the broader local society. The assembly engaged in comprehensive deliberations on practical implementation strategies designed to effectively realize these ambitious aims.

President Myung-suk Lee, a prominent figure within the Korean American community, expressed his commitment to fostering an era of transparency and active engagement. "The 39th KAANY is dedicated to operating with utmost transparency and ensuring the active participation of all community members," President Lee stated during the meeting. "We aim to maintain continuous and meaningful communication with our fellow Koreans, working together to address their needs and aspirations."

The agenda for the upcoming term reflects a multi-faceted approach to community empowerment. Enhancing the rights and interests of Korean Americans will involve proactive engagement with local and state authorities on issues pertinent to the community, including advocacy for equitable policies and the provision of resources to support Korean American residents.

Recognizing the importance of generational continuity, the KAANY has placed a significant emphasis on fostering next-generation leadership. Plans are underway to develop mentorship programs, leadership training initiatives, and platforms for young Korean Americans to engage in community affairs and contribute their unique perspectives. This focus aims to ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for the Korean American community in New York.

Furthermore, the 39th KAANY is committed to strengthening its ties with the wider New York City community. This will involve collaborative projects with other ethnic organizations, participation in local civic initiatives, and outreach efforts to promote cultural understanding and mutual respect. By fostering these relationships, the association seeks to enhance the integration and visibility of the Korean American community within the diverse tapestry of New York City.

The newly inaugurated board comprises a diverse group of individuals with a wide range of expertise and a shared commitment to serving the Korean American community. Their collective experience in various fields, including business, law, education, and community service, is expected to provide valuable insights and guidance in the implementation of the association's goals.
