Tanzania Grants Historic Mining License to Helium One Global for Southern Rukwa Project

RUKWA, TANZANIA – Helium One Global, a leading helium exploration company in Tanzania, has received a landmark offer letter from the Mining Commission (MC) of Tanzania for the grant of a mining license for its southern Rukwa Helium Project. This significant development marks a historic moment for both the company and the nation, as it represents the first-ever mining license issued for helium in Tanzania on such a substantial scale.

The license, covering approximately 480 square kilometers, encompasses the entire southern Rukwa Helium Project located in the Momba and Sumbawanga Districts of the southern Rukwa Basin. This achievement follows the successful Itumbula West-1 discovery in 2023 and the submission of a comprehensive feasibility study last September, which underscored the vast helium potential of the region.

"This license issuance is a historic moment for both the company and Tanzania," stated Lorna Blaisse, CEO of Helium One Global. "We are grateful to the Ministry of Minerals and the Mining Commission for their trust in our vision to pioneer this vital sector. I also extend my thanks to our dedicated team and shareholders for their unwavering support."

Helium, a rare and crucial gas, is essential for various high-tech applications, including MRI scanners, semiconductor manufacturing, deep-sea diving, and space exploration. Its limited supply makes it a strategic resource globally. The Rukwa Basin is estimated to hold one of the world's largest helium reserves, positioning Tanzania as a potential key player in the global helium market.

The approval from the Ministry of Minerals to grant a larger-than-standard mining license reflects the unique geological characteristics of the southern Rukwa Helium Project. The region's gas-in-solution plays, extensive faulting mechanisms, and fracture networks necessitate a broader license area to fully capitalize on the helium resource.

This project is expected to generate hundreds of jobs and attract significant investment to the Tanzanian economy. Furthermore, it could help establish Tanzania as a hub for advanced technology industries. Helium One Global is committed to adhering to sustainable mining practices and minimizing the project's environmental impact.

The current helium market is experiencing high prices due to supply shortages. Tanzania's production has the potential to alleviate these shortages and stabilize prices, benefiting industries worldwide.

Helium One Global also holds a 50 percent working interest in the Galactica-Pegasus helium development project in Colorado, USA, further solidifying its position as a key player in the global helium sector. The mining license offer and its terms are currently under review by Helium One.
