DAEJEON, SOUTH KOREA – With just 20 days remaining until its grand opening, Daejeon City is intensifying its preparations for the highly anticipated 2025 Daejeon Science Festival. City officials held a final briefing session on Thursday, March 27th, to meticulously review all aspects of the upcoming event and ensure a successful execution.

The meeting, held at Daejeon City Hall, saw the attendance of key figures including Mayor Lee Jang-woo, Administrative Vice Mayor Yoo Deuk-won, and representatives from the Daejeon Tourism Organization and TJB, the event management company. Discussions centered on the final implementation plans presented by TJB, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, promotional strategies, and identifying any remaining areas for improvement.

This year's Daejeon Science Festival is set to be a landmark event, running from Wednesday, April 16th to Sunday, April 20th. Notably, it will be held concurrently with the prestigious 'Korea Science Festival' and the 'Korea Science & Technology Fair,' creating a comprehensive celebration of science and technology across multiple prominent city locations. These include the Expo Citizen Plaza, Expo Science Park, Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) Exhibition Halls 1 & 2, Hanbat Arboretum, and the scenic Gapcheon riverside.

Under the engaging slogan, 'The Engine of Science, Igniting Curiosity,' the integrated five-day extravaganza will be structured around three core themes: the 'Curiosity Theme Park' (Daejeon Science Festival), the 'Curiosity Lab' (Korea Science & Technology Fair), and the 'Curiosity Power Plant' (Korea Science Festival).

The Daejeon Science Festival, embodying its 'Curiosity Theme Park' concept, promises a vibrant atmosphere. The Hanbit Tower Water Plaza will be transformed into a lively Science Picnic Zone, offering a delightful blend of food and entertainment. Along the Gapcheon riverside, visitors can look forward to unique and exciting experiences such as drone racing and captivating nighttime hot air balloon rides.

Inside DCC Exhibition Hall 1, attendees will be immersed in large-scale media art installations and engaging science attractions, designed to make learning about science an enjoyable and interactive experience for all ages.

Adding an international dimension to the festivities, the 10th annual World Science Culture Forum will take place on April 18th and 19th. This year's forum, themed 'HI, AI,' will feature insightful lectures from a diverse panel of speakers, including the renowned robotics expert Dennis Hong, promising a blend of popular appeal and in-depth knowledge.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming festival, highlighting its significance in expanding the city's brand. "Holding the Daejeon Science Festival in conjunction with the 'Korea Science Festival' and other related events marks a pivotal moment for its brand expansion," Mayor Lee stated. "We aspire to attract a significant influx of tourists from across the country, generating positive buzz and firmly establishing Daejeon not only as a leading science city but also as a vibrant and enjoyable 'Jam-Jam City'." He further affirmed the city's commitment to delivering a "richer and more complete festival experience through the fusion of science and culture, ensuring enjoyment for both citizens and visitors alike."
