ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – The realm of artistic ingenuity finds compelling expression in the latest exhibition by Argentine painter Carlos Gallardo, currently on display at the Miguel Acevedo Gallery within the distinguished Manzana de la Rivera cultural complex in Asunción. The exhibition, located at the intersection of Ayolas and Benjamín Constant streets, commenced recently and will continue to enchant visitors until the 26th of May. Art enthusiasts are invited to explore Gallardo's innovative creations without charge during the gallery's operating hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; and Sunday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

For Gallardo, a native son of Corrientes, this homecoming exhibition marks his return to showcasing his oeuvre in his home country after an eleven-year hiatus. The centerpiece of this collection lies in his distinctive artistry, which transforms discarded magazine paper into evocative visual narratives. Through a masterful manipulation of color and texture, coupled with an unbridled creative spirit, Gallardo's artworks resonate deeply with viewers, prompting introspection and wonder.

In reflecting upon his artistic process, Carlos Gallardo elucidates, "The increasingly obsolescent medium of paper magazines provides me with the fundamental elements to unearth and perceive concealed landscapes. Within the strata of each hue, tactile quality, and image reside latent dreams, suggesting inaccessible yet potentially existent, unforeseen, and ethereal realms akin to reveries."

The artist further posits a profound connection between human sentiment and meticulous observation, asserting that the culmination of all emotions is contingent upon an acute and attentive engagement with one's surroundings. Consequently, Gallardo suggests that each individual harbors a personal "dreaming place," a sanctuary where coveted tranquility can be attained through unwavering dedication and perseverance.

Gallardo extends a message of optimism to his audience, stating, "Whether manifested through the vibrancy of yellow, the regality of purple, the warmth of orange, the intensity of red, or the serenity of green; whether illuminated by a solitary sun or a celestial duet of moons; or whether graced by fantastical stars descending like magical rain – any of these portents signifies an emergent, more enlightened perspective on the world. We are, indeed, progressing along the correct trajectory."

[Artist's Profile]

Carlos A. Gallardo, born in Corrientes, Argentina, in 1967, stands as a prominent figure in visual arts education and practice. He holds a professorship in sculpture at the esteemed Alfredo Pertile National Higher Institute of Fine Arts (ISPEA) in Resistencia, Chaco, where his administrative acumen was also demonstrated through his tenure as Deputy Director of Secondary Education. A certified cultural management technician, Gallardo has imparted his knowledge as a teacher at both secondary and tertiary levels within the ISPEA Higher Institute of Fine Arts.

His expertise has been sought as a jury member for numerous painting and sculpture competitions across the Chaco, Corrientes, and Formosa provinces. Furthermore, he has enriched the artistic landscape through the conduction of sculpture and painting courses and workshops in Chaco and Corrientes, and his artistic contributions have been recognized with multiple awards in the realms of painting and sculpture.

Gallardo's engagement with the art world extends to curatorial and administrative roles, having served as the Director of the Dr. Juan Ramón Vidal Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in Corrientes (1992-1993) and as the Head of the Educational Services Department. His dedication to cultural heritage was further evident in his work within the Museums, Fine Arts, and Science Department of the Undersecretary of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Corrientes (1993).

His artistic journey has been marked by significant solo exhibitions, including showcases at the Juan de Vera National Theater Hall in Corrientes, the Main Hall of the Dr. Juan Ramón Vidal Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in Corrientes, the El Hotelito Multipurpose Hall (recognized for its educational significance by the Ministry of Education of Chaco, Resistencia), the Carlos Colombino Municipal Cultural Center - Manzana de la Rivera in Asunción, Paraguay, and the Justa Díaz de Vivar Hall of the Dr. Juan Ramón Vidal Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in Corrientes. Currently, his compelling works are being received with considerable enthusiasm by the public during their exhibition in Paraguay.
