Ingavi General Hospital (Policlínica Ingavi), under the Paraguayan Social Security Institute (IPS), has announced the launch of a new dermatology clinic this month. This initiative aims to provide specialized skin health management services to its social security affiliates.

Ingavi General Hospital has established the dermatology department to improve medical access for social security affiliates suffering from skin diseases and to contribute to the promotion of skin health. The newly opened clinic will be managed by Dr. Noemí da Ponte and will provide care for both adult and child patients. The primary areas of treatment will include general skin care, mole (nevus) examination, skin cancer diagnosis, eczema, psoriasis, acne, and allergic dermatitis. Furthermore, the clinic plans to offer specialized consultation and treatment for hair and nail disorders.

The hospital stated, "The skin plays a very important role in maintaining health, but it can be damaged by various factors such as climate change, aging, and certain diseases." They emphasized, "If skin problems are not treated in a timely manner, they can negatively affect the quality of life and overall health." It is expected that the opening of this dermatology clinic will enable social security affiliates to conveniently access specialized skin health management services, aiding in the early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of skin diseases, ultimately helping them maintain a healthy life.

Notably, the attending physician, Dr. Noemí da Ponte, recently garnered recognition for her outstanding expertise in the field of dermatology when her research paper was selected for an oral presentation at the Annual Meeting of Latin American Dermatologists (RADLA) held in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Based on this expertise, she is expected to provide patients at Ingavi General Hospital's dermatology clinic with the latest knowledge and high-quality medical services.

Appointments for the Ingavi General Hospital dermatology clinic will be required. Patients can schedule appointments by calling the call center (0800115000) from Monday to Friday or by visiting the hospital's reception desk in person. Clinic hours begin at 7:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Paraguay provides healthcare services to its citizens through a public health system and a social security system. The Social Security Institute (IPS, Instituto de Previsión Social) is a crucial social institution that offers various social security benefits, including medical care, pensions, and unemployment benefits, to workers and their families. Ingavi General Hospital plays a significant role within this social security system, contributing to the health promotion of the local community. The establishment of this dermatology clinic is seen as part of Ingavi General Hospital's efforts to expand the scope of its medical services and respond more effectively to the diverse medical needs of its social security affiliates.

There is a growing interest in skin health in the Latin American region, and the role of dermatologists is becoming increasingly important. Various factors, such as increased exposure to ultraviolet radiation due to climate change, changes in lifestyle habits, and environmental pollution, are affecting skin health, leading to a rise in the incidence of skin diseases. In this context, the opening of the dermatology clinic at Ingavi General Hospital is expected to play a vital role in the skin health management and disease prevention of the local community.

Ingavi General Hospital plans to continuously improve the quality of its medical services and expand into various specialized fields to provide more comprehensive and specialized medical services to its social security affiliates. The opening of this dermatology clinic is a first step in this direction, and it is anticipated that by providing high-quality medical services in more specialized areas, the hospital will further contribute to the health promotion of the local community.
