[Global Economic Times] Gimhae City announced on the 17th that the 2024 Korea Arts Festival, a national comprehensive art competition, will be held at the Gimhae Arts Center from the 21st to the 22nd.

Over two days, main competitions will be held in the fields of Korean traditional music, photography, and film, and national teams from 16 metropolitan cities and provinces that won regional preliminary competitions from July to August will participate.

The Korea Arts Festival is Korea's only national comprehensive arts competition held in conjunction with the National Sports Festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and organized by the Korean Federation of Arts, the Gyeongnam Federation of the Korean Federation of Arts, and the Gimhae Branch of the Korean Federation of Arts.

On the first day, the 21st, the contest order will be drawn by lottery, and the final competitions for Korean traditional music (Maru Hall), photography (Yunseul Art Museum 3rd exhibition hall), and film (Video Media Center) will be held at the Gimhae Arts Center from 1:30 to 6 p.m. . Then, the awards ceremony will be held at Maru Hall of Gimhae Culture Center from 1 p.m. on the 22nd.

The final contest and award ceremony are free to attend (no separate reservations required), and through fair judging, the grand prize for each category (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award) will be awarded to 1 team 5 million won, the grand prize winner 1 team 3 million won, the excellence prize 1 team 2 million won, and the encouragement prize 4 teams 1 million won. A prize is given.

The Korean Federation of Arts is comprised of 10 member associations (architecture, Korean traditional music, dance, literary, art, photography, theater, entertainment, film, and music) and 171 associations of metropolitan cities, provinces, cities, and counties across the country, contributing to the development of arts and culture. It is a non-profit organization established in 1962 for the purpose of promoting the rights of artists.

Cho Kang-hoon, president of the Korea Federation of Arts, said, “As the Korea Arts Festival is expanding its categories and scale every year and has established itself as a competition representing the domestic art world, we will expand and further develop the contest category so that more artists can participate every year.”

Gimhae Mayor Hong Tae-yong said, “This year, various cultural festivals are being held in connection with the National Sports Festival, East Asia Cultural Cities, and Visit Gimhae Year. I am happy and grateful that we can provide a wealth of attractions by hosting the Korea Arts Festival together.” He added, “Regardless of the results of the contest, each “The performances performed by local artists are precious and valuable in themselves,” he said.
