Andong, South Korea – Nestled in the heart of South Korea, Hahoe Village offers a captivating glimpse into the nation's rich cultural heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its well-preserved traditional Korean houses and its vibrant cultural traditions, has become a must-visit destination for travelers seeking an authentic Korean experience.

Hahoe, meaning "river turn," is a picturesque village surrounded by a winding river, creating a serene and idyllic setting. For centuries, the village has been home to the Ryu clan, and their unique architectural style and customs have been meticulously preserved. Traditional Korean houses, known as hanok, dot the landscape, featuring curved roofs, papered windows, and ondol (underfloor heating) systems.

One of the highlights of Hahoe Village is the annual Hahoe Byeolsin Gut Tal Nori mask dance. This traditional masked dance drama, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, satirizes social and political issues through colorful masks and energetic performances. Visitors can also experience the Hahoe Seonyu Julbul Nori, a fire dance that illuminates the night sky with a mesmerizing display of fire.

Hahoe Village is more than just a historical site; it's a living community where traditional customs and values continue to thrive. Visitors can participate in various cultural experiences, such as learning about the village's history, trying their hand at traditional crafts, or simply strolling through the charming streets.

Key features of Hahoe Village:

UNESCO World Heritage Site: Recognized for its outstanding universal value.
Traditional Korean Houses: Well-preserved hanok with unique architectural features.
Cultural Performances: Experience the vibrant Hahoe Byeolsin Gut Tal Nori and Hahoe Seonyu Julbul Nori.
