Taiwan Tourism Administration Successfully Hosts 'Cheers! Taiwan, the Epitome of Romance!' Pop-up Event and B2B Tourism Fair

Seoul's urban landscape was recently imbued with the multifaceted allure of Taiwan as the Taiwan Tourism Administration, in collaboration with the Taiwan Visitors Association and various Taiwanese tourism stakeholders, orchestrated a comprehensive promotional campaign in the South Korean capital from April 19th to 21st, aiming to attract a greater influx of Korean tourists. Notably, the 'Cheers! Taiwan, the Epitome of Romance!' pop-up event, held on April 19th and 20th in the Hannam-dong district of Yongsan-gu, Seoul, vividly showcased Taiwan's vibrant 'Re Chao' (熱炒, Taiwanese-style pub) culture, garnering enthusiastic responses from attendees.

Under the thematic banner of 'romance,' the pop-up event successfully recreated the unique blend of freedom and dynamism characteristic of Taiwan. Visitors who graced the venue were offered an immersive experience into 'Re Chao,' a cornerstone of Taiwanese culinary tradition accessible to all, allowing them to revel in gastronomic pleasures. A highlight of the event was the special performance by the Taiwanese band 'A_ROOT (同根生),' recipients of the prestigious Golden Melody Award. Their unique musical fusion of traditional instruments and contemporary sounds captivated the audience, transporting them to the lively atmosphere of a Taiwanese night spot.

A diverse array of interactive programs further captivated the active participation of visitors. A hands-on workshop on preparing 'Pineapple Shrimp,' a beloved Taiwanese dish, provided participants with a unique and enjoyable experience. Additionally, a wool felt key ring DIY session offered an opportunity to craft personalized souvenirs. Throughout the event, an assortment of 'Re Chao' delicacies, including Yan Su Ji (Taiwanese salt-fried chicken), refreshing Taiwanese beer, and sweet guava juice, tantalized the palates of attendees. Amidst the abundant food and convivial ambiance, visitors felt as though they had stepped into a bustling Taiwanese night market, freely interacting and sharing moments of joy.

Furthermore, the Taiwan Tourism Administration actively promoted its ongoing special event for independent Korean travelers, 'Taiwan the Lucky Land,' during the roadshow. Launched in May 2023, this initiative offers a compelling incentive for free independent travelers (FITs) visiting Taiwan, providing them with a chance to win luxurious accommodation vouchers through a lucky draw, which has already garnered significant interest from the Korean travel community. Many attendees at the event participated in the lottery, adding to the anticipation of their potential Taiwanese adventure.

A representative from the Taiwan Tourism Administration stated, "This event was meticulously designed to introduce the essence of Taiwan to Koreans more profoundly through its representative culinary culture, 'Re Chao,' and a variety of engaging activities. As we approach the peak summer season, we are intensifying our efforts to attract Korean tourists. We sincerely hope that this event will encourage more Koreans to visit Taiwan and experience the genuine charm of Taiwan, a land brimming with romance and joy."

Following the successful pop-up event, the Taiwan Tourism Administration hosted a B2B tourism fair on April 21st at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, specifically targeting domestic travel industry professionals. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed figures such as Honorary Chairperson of the Taiwan Visitors Association, Yeh Chu-lan (葉菊蘭), and Chairperson of the Taiwan Visitors Association, Chien Yu-yen (簡余晏), alongside a delegation of 78 representatives from 46 organizations, including the Kinmen County Government, the Lienchiang County Government, major travel agencies, airlines, and hotels, all convening to explore collaborative opportunities within the Korean tourism market. The fair served as a platform to unveil the latest Taiwanese tourism information and novel travel products, facilitating over 200 active business consultations and fostering optimism for the future growth of tourism between the two nations.

Through this pop-up event and tourism fair, Taiwan has effectively positioned itself as an even more appealing travel destination for Koreans. By offering a vibrant 'Re Chao' cultural experience, diverse entertainment options, and generous benefits, Taiwan has captured the hearts of Korean travelers, signaling a promising outlook for attracting Korean tourists this summer. The Taiwan Tourism Administration is committed to continuing its proactive promotional endeavors to further expand the amicable tourism exchange between Korea and Taiwan.
