SEOUL – Kim Woo-jin, the South Korean archer who achieved a historic triple gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics, will be awarded the grand prize at the 71st Korea Sports Awards. The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) made the announcement on February 20th, recognizing Kim's outstanding achievements in the field of archery.

Kim Woo-jin's performance at the Paris Olympics was nothing short of remarkable. He became the first male archer to secure gold medals in all three archery events: individual, team, and mixed team. This feat solidified his place in South Korean sports history and earned him national acclaim.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 25th at the Olympic Parktel in Seoul. Kim Woo-jin will be presented with a prestigious plaque bearing a pure gold medal (weighing 10 don, a Korean unit of weight) and a special prize.

In addition to Kim Woo-jin, the KSOC will also honor 71 individuals and one organization for their contributions to various aspects of sports. These categories include competition, coaching, refereeing, grassroots sports development, school sports, contributions to sports, research, and sportsmanship. Among the notable awardees are judoka Kim Min-jong and shooter Yang Ji-in, who will receive the top award in the competition category.

The ceremony will also feature the recognition of achievements at the 106th National Winter Games and the presentation of the Sports Mecenat award. This award celebrates companies that have made significant contributions to sports organizations through sponsorship. This year's recipients are Daesang Wellife Co., Ltd., sponsor of the Korea Rugby Union, and Barrel Co., Ltd., sponsor of the Korea Swimming Federation.

The Korea Sports Awards serve as a platform to celebrate the dedication and excellence of athletes, coaches, and organizations that contribute to the growth and development of sports in South Korea. Kim Woo-jin's grand prize is a testament to his exceptional talent and his historic achievements at the Paris Olympics.
