Singapore – In anticipation of the World Aquatics Masters Championships, set to take place in Singapore from July 26 to August 22, 2025, World Aquatics is introducing a special education program for Masters athletes. This program, to be conducted both online and offline, is part of the federation's broader efforts to build a more connected, informed, and empowered global aquatics community.

More than 7,000 Masters participants are expected to compete across all disciplines at the Singapore Masters Championships, including swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, and open water swimming. World Aquatics aims to provide them with opportunities not just to compete, but also to engage with experts, share best practices, and connect with fellow athletes from around the world.

Key Education Programs and Instructor Introductions

This education program consists of three sessions focused on improving Masters athletes' skills, preventing injuries, and enhancing motivation.

1. Webinar: Seasonal Training Planning for Optimal Performance in Masters Athletes

Instructor: Dr. James Miller Date: July 1, 2025 Platform: Online (Zoom) Fee: 15 USD Session Content: Dr. James Miller, a distinguished figure in sports medicine and a member of the World Aquatics Sports Medicine Committee, will lead this webinar. It will delve into in-depth topics such as designing and implementing seasonal training cycles for long-term development, tapering (reducing training load before competition), recovery, and competition preparation. This session will provide essential knowledge for Masters athletes to reach their full potential, prevent injuries, and maintain consistent performance. In particular, training methods considering age-specific physical characteristics and effective recovery strategies are expected to be of great benefit to participants.

2. In-Person Workshop: Stroke Technique for the Four Strokes

Instructor: Dr. James Miller Date: August 8, 2025 Location: Provided upon payment confirmation Capacity: 45 participants (limited) Fee: 60 USD Session Content: This workshop will focus on the in-depth techniques of the four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Dr. James Miller will emphasize methods to increase speed and efficiency while reducing injury risk, providing ideal content for Masters athletes to improve their skills in the long term. Through analysis using actual underwater footage and individualized feedback, participants will have the opportunity to objectively evaluate and improve their stroke technique.

3. In-Person Seminar: Oceania Olympian's Journey – Ryan Pini

Instructor: Ryan Pini Date: August 12, 2025 Location: Provided upon payment confirmation Capacity: 50 participants (limited) Fee: 60 USD Session Content: Ryan Pini, a four-time Olympian, Chair of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Athlete Committee, and a member of the World Aquatics Athletes' Committee, will share his inspiring journey. His story, as one of Papua New Guinea's most iconic athletes and a Commonwealth Games gold medalist, will highlight the importance of clean sport, perseverance, and resilience. His experiences, from Port Moresby to the Olympic stage, are expected to deeply inspire and motivate participants. This session will particularly emphasize the value of fair competition without doping, reaffirming the true meaning of sportsmanship.

Program Significance and Registration Information

This Masters education program goes beyond mere technical training; it spotlights the exceptional dedication, skill, and passion for aquatic sports held by Masters athletes, contributing to the realization of World Aquatics' vision: "United by Water." By bringing together swimmers, divers, artistic swimmers, open water swimmers, and water polo players in Singapore for interaction, the program is expected to strengthen the aquatics community's bonds and facilitate information sharing.

Registration and payment for all education sessions will be conducted through the World Aquatics Global Management System (GMS). Early registration is recommended for in-person events due to limited participant capacity. This program will offer Masters athletes a unique opportunity to listen to expert voices, reflect on best practices, and connect with fellow athletes from around the world.

For further inquiries, please contact masters@worldaquatics.com. We anticipate this program will provide Masters athletes with new learning opportunities and an unforgettable experience.
