VILLA HAYES, Paraguay – A young 17-year-old Korean student is making a significant impact in Paraguay, opening new horizons for digital education for children in the Villa Hayes region. Jiah Hwang, a student at Seoul International School, combined her passion for technology with a desire to create positive social change, launching an innovative educational project called 'Aventura Digital' (Digital Adventure). This project has provided more than 150 underprivileged children with access to advanced technology, marking a crucial step in bridging the digital divide.

Jiah Hwang planned the entire project remotely from Korea. Through close collaboration with the 'Centro Melodía' (Melody Center) in Villa Hayes and the local educational office, she donated ten computers and personally created a practical and creative curriculum consisting of ten lessons.

The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from basic computer skills to Excel, Duolingo, presentation creation, and even making webtoons and picture stories. It also includes education on internet safety, cyberbullying, and the importance of digital identity to help children navigate the digital world healthily.

Hwang emphasized, "Digital education is a right, not a privilege, that should be given to everyone." She shared that she was deeply moved by seeing the children gain confidence as the classes progressed. Her passion for monitoring the project's progress remotely was a major driving force behind its success.

The highlight of the 'Digital Adventure' project was the final presentation. Students showcased the works they created based on what they had learned to their families. This event was not just a demonstration of acquired technical skills but also a space for emotional and social interaction where children could find their own voices and discover new potential. Félix Fariña, the director of the 'Centro Melodía,' expressed his deep gratitude, saying, "This project with Jiah shows how far you can go when you work with sincerity."

The first phase of the project was successfully completed thanks to the collaboration of various parties, including the 'Melody Center,' the Municipality of Villa Hayes, local teachers, parents, and educational authorities. Jiah Hwang hopes to expand the project to more communities in Paraguay and has stated that she will continue her efforts.

'Digital Adventure' is a prime example of how one young student's warm heart and passion can bring about positive social change across physical distances. Through this project, children who were previously unable to benefit from technology have gained the opportunity to grow as active participants in the digital age, and Jiah Hwang's courageous challenge is inspiring many others.
