Mirzone Myrrh Research Institute's 'Carve Microbial Fertilizer Sustainable Farming Method' is providing hope to strawberry farmers.

The Mir Life, the sales corporation for Carve, announced on the 2nd that they have received numerous success stories from farmers nationwide who have adopted the Carve sustainable farming method, which enables strawberry cultivation without pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Developed by the Mirzone Myrrh Research Institute, Carve is characterized by its ability to simultaneously promote crop growth and solve pest and disease problems. Mirzone explains that it is helpful not only for organic farmers but also for conventional farmers who have had difficulties with residual pesticide issues. Mirzone has been conducting test cultivation with some farmers for several years and has recently begun to distribute the fertilizer to farmers in earnest.

Kim Il-ho (76), former chairman of the Nonsan Farmers' Association, who grows strawberries and grapes in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, said, "Even though I didn't use any pesticides, the strawberries are strong and have yielded more than those grown with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Now, I grow all my strawberries with Carve fertilizer and use bees for strawberry pollination. Because I grow strawberries without chemical fungicides, I can pick them and eat them right away, which makes farming enjoyable."

Mirzone Myrrh Research Institute is a company dedicated to myrrh fermentation research. Dr. Kim Jin-woo, the head of the institute, developed a myrrh complex extract (MHS-90) extracted and fermented from myrrh and obtained a patent for fertilizer based on this. Patent No. 10-1710673, an antimicrobial powder preparation for crops using myrrh solids. Based on this patent, Carve microbial fertilizer was developed by combining microorganisms.

Research has shown that myrrh contains various components such as polyphenols and terpenoids as its main ingredients. According to a paper published by Dr. Kim in the Applied Sciences journal, representative polyphenol components of myrrh include tannic acid, rutin, and quercetin, and representative terpenoid components include furanoeudesma-1,3-diene and curzerene.

Furthermore, it has been shown that quercetin and rutin are effective in anti-inflammatory effects, and furanoeudesma-1,3-diene and curzerene are effective in reducing viruses. In an antiviral experiment with myrrh extract, it was confirmed that the influenza virus was reduced by 81.2%, according to the paper.

Dr. Kim said, "Carve was developed and patented by combining an antimicrobial powder preparation for crops using myrrh solids with microorganisms. It simultaneously promotes crop growth and solves pest and disease problems. We will strive to become a new hope for agriculture."
