Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (hereinafter referred to as Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Yoo In-chon will attend the ‘China International Travel Mart (CITM)’ held in Shanghai, China from November 21 to 23 at the invitation of the Chinese government. Minister Yu will meet with Sun Yeri, Director of China's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and hold a meeting between the Korean and Chinese culture and tourism ministers for the first time in five and a half years to discuss ways to expand Korea-China tourism and cultural industry exchanges.

In addition, we will meet with Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports Sirawong Thiantung and Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Tiong King Sing, who are attending the International Leisure Trade Fair, to explore ways to cooperate in cultural and sports exchanges. The Korea Pavilion at the International Leisure Trade Association will also be visited to encourage local governments and travel industry officials who are promoting tourism to Korea.

On November 23, Minister Yu In-chon will hold the ‘Korea-China Culture and Tourism Ministers’ Meeting’ with Sun Yeri, Director of China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The 'Korea-China Culture and Tourism Ministers' Meeting' is being held for the first time in five and a half years since 2019 due to COVID-19. It is expected to expand human exchanges in the future as it marks a new turning point in the expansion of Korea-China tourism exchanges due to the Chinese government's recent unilateral visa exemption policy for Koreans. Improvement of immigration convenience, creation of a safe tourism environment, and exclusive travel agency system for China will be discussed.

Minister Yoo plans to convey his opinion to the Chinese side to expand mutual cultural exchanges, as well as a request to allow Korean content companies to operate in a predictable and stable environment in China.

Prior to this, Minister Yoo In-chon also attended a meeting of Korean Wave content business organizations operating in China on November 21 to hear on-site opinions on revitalizing cultural industry exchanges between Korea and China. Attending this event will be the heads of the Korean Cultural Center in Beijing and Shanghai, the head of the Beijing Center of the Korea Creative Content Agency, and the heads of overseas subsidiaries of Korean content companies operating in China, including broadcasting, game, and entertainment companies.
