SEOUL, South Korea – November 14, 2024 – The Upbit D Conference (UDC), South Korea's premier blockchain event, opened its doors today at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Bringing together over 40 global blockchain experts, UDC 2024 is a platform for discussing the latest technological trends and the future of the industry, both online and offline.
Now in its seventh year, UDC has been organized annually by Dunamu since 2018 to foster the growth and popularization of the blockchain industry. This year's conference, themed "Blockchain: Powering Real World Change," comes at a time of unprecedented interest in digital assets. The event delves into how blockchain is expanding into various industries and transforming the real world through sessions on trends, finance, policy, technology, and culture.
Song Chi-hyung, Chairman of Dunamu, delivered the opening keynote, emphasizing the tangible impact of blockchain. "Blockchain is no longer an invisible technology," he said. "With the activation of Real World Assets (RWAs), the approval of Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs in global markets, and the rise of NFT tickets, blockchain-driven changes are becoming more prevalent."
Song continued, "Despite the ongoing questions and challenges surrounding blockchain, it is being applied directly to real-world finance globally, becoming institutionalized through laws and policies, and is being utilized in various fields beyond technology, including telecommunications, distribution, and manufacturing."
The first keynote session featured a dialogue between Michael Casey, former Chairman of CoinDesk Consensus, and Seokwoo Lee, CEO of Dunamu. They discussed the expansion of Web3, the convergence with AI technology, and the innovation of traditional finance, sharing their vision for the future of blockchain.
