Gymnastics Canada Announces Roster for 2025 Junior Pan American Championships & Tournament Anticipation Builds for Major Competition in Asunción, Paraguay, from May 22-25

OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada – Gymnastics Canada has officially announced the rhythmic gymnastics athletes who will represent Canada at the upcoming 2025 Junior Pan American Championships and Tournament, with high hopes for their performance on the international stage. The event is set to take place from May 22 to 25, 2025, at the Pabellón de Gimnasia in Asunción, Paraguay, and is expected to gather promising young rhythmic gymnasts from across the Americas to showcase their skills.

Junior Pan American Championships: Canada's Core Strength

Canada's core contingent will compete in both individual and group categories in the most prestigious event, the Junior Pan American Championships.

In the RGI Junior Individuals competition, Canada will be represented by:

Kate Vetricean
Eva Cao
Olivia Nguyen
These athletes are considered the future leaders of Canadian rhythmic gymnastics, and there's high anticipation that they'll leverage their strengths to achieve excellent results at the competition. Specifically, the Junior Championships individual competition determines rankings based on the combined scores of four apparatus (hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon), making it a crucial platform for athletes to demonstrate well-rounded skills.

The RGG Junior Group category will feature the team comprised of:

Eliza Bendeliani
Iana Ivanova
Cynthia Leng
Gillian Lu
Lillian Yevzlin
In rhythmic gymnastics group events, flawless teamwork and harmony among gymnasts are essential. It's crucial to express artistry through delicate movements and formation changes. The Canadian group team has consistently refined their teamwork through diligent training and is now ready to reap the rewards of their efforts at this competition.

The coaches assigned to guide these athletes are Natalia Popova, Anastasiia Shykharieva, and Tatsiana Kastsenkava, who will focus on managing the athletes' condition and enhancing their performance. These coaches will leverage their extensive experience and expertise to help the athletes perform at their very best.

Junior Pan American Tournament: Another Opportunity for Growth

The Junior Pan American Tournament provides an opportunity for new athletes to gain international experience and test their skills.

In the RGI Junior Individuals competition, the following athletes will participate:

Emeline Hagi
Elenora Khristoforova
These athletes are expected to use this tournament to familiarize themselves with the international competition atmosphere and grow by competing against world-class gymnasts.

Yuliya Shlykova will accompany the tournament participants as a coach, supporting them in unleashing their full potential.

Competition Background and Significance

The 2025 Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Pan American Championships also serves as a test event for the 2nd Junior Pan American Games, which will be held in Asunción from August 9 to 23, 2025. As such, it is expected to play a crucial role in inspecting venue facilities and operational systems. Furthermore, the Pan American Championships are a vital stepping stone for promising rhythmic gymnasts across the Americas to develop world-class skills. Athletes from various countries will use this competition to validate their abilities and earn opportunities to advance to the next level.

Gymnastics Canada aims to expand the reach of rhythmic gymnastics in Canada through this competition and accelerate the discovery of future Olympic and World Championship stars. The Canadian contingent is expected to give their best performance in Paraguay, elevate Canada's standing, and return home with invaluable experience.
