A woman in her 40s has died after being struck by a falling object while leaving work following an overtime shift at a mobile phone component manufacturing plant in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.

According to the Masan Dongbu Police Station on the 25th, at around 12:12 PM the previous day, a transformer radiator fell from the second-floor exterior emergency stairs of a mobile phone component manufacturing facility in Yangdeok-dong, Masanhoewon-gu, Changwon, crashing down to the ground outside and striking a woman in her 40s, identified as A.

Ms. A, who sustained severe injuries from the accident, was transported to a hospital but ultimately passed away.

Investigations revealed that Ms. A, an employee of the company, met with the tragic incident while heading home after finishing her weekend overtime shift.

The transformer radiator that struck Ms. A weighed approximately 60 kilograms and plummeted from a height of about 4 meters.

At the time of the accident, a contractor hired by the company was performing work to dismantle an unused transformer inside the second-floor substation room.

Police believe that the accident occurred when a handcart carrying the transformer radiator got caught on a ledge of the second-floor exterior emergency staircase during the contractor's operations, causing the contents to bounce outward and fall. Authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
