Ulsan, South Korea – Ulsan is set to host a symposium on November 19th, aimed at attracting global data centers to the city and fostering new growth opportunities. The event, organized by the 6223 Future Forum Research Institute, will take place at 2 PM in the Ulsan Museum auditorium.

Data centers, serving as the backbone of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, store and process vast amounts of data. Attracting these facilities can significantly boost a region's economy by creating jobs, stimulating related industries, and accelerating digital transformation. For manufacturing-centric cities like Ulsan, data centers can offer a pathway to industrial modernization.

The symposium will delve into the latest trends in the global data center market and explore strategies for Ulsan to attract these facilities. Ryu Gi-hun, CEO of Deus, will deliver a keynote address analyzing the growth of the global data center market and outlining the necessary conditions and strategies for Ulsan to become an attractive destination.

A subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Choi Yeon-chung, former president of the Ulsan Urban Corporation, will feature experts from various fields, including Go Dong-rok of Quantum Brain Network, Lee Young-gyu of IT Space, Yoon Yeo-pil of Ulsan AI Data Center, and Park Ki-su, director of the AI Industry Promotion Division at the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency. They will discuss various perspectives on attracting data centers.

Ulsan has already taken significant steps to attract data centers, leveraging its abundant power supply, ample land, and skilled workforce. The city is also strengthening policy support for related industries.

The symposium is expected to provide a roadmap for Ulsan to attract global data centers and foster consensus within the community. However, attracting data centers requires more than just administrative procedures; it necessitates the support and participation of local residents. Additionally, addressing environmental concerns and energy consumption associated with data center operations is crucial.

Attracting global data centers presents both an opportunity and a challenge for Ulsan's economic revitalization. The upcoming symposium marks a significant step for the city as it strives to become a leading data center hub.
