IMSIL, South Korea - Imsil County in North Jeolla Province is set to host the "2025 Imsil N Pet Star Festival," a three-day cultural event dedicated to companion animals, from May 3rd to 5th. This festival, coinciding with the 40th Osu Opinion Cultural Festival as part of the "2025 Visit Imsil Year," promises a diverse range of programs and an abundance of local delicacies, including Imsil cheese and Korean beef.

The event will take place at the Osu Opinion Dog Park, a site steeped in local legend. The story of the Osu dog, who sacrificed itself to save its sleeping owner, is widely known in South Korea, even featured in elementary school textbooks, symbolizing loyalty and filial piety. This year's festival aims to build upon the success of previous editions, offering expanded and unique experiences for pets and their owners.

A significant highlight of the festival will be the increased participation of university students from 12 pet-related departments across the nation, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to the event. The program is packed with engaging activities, including a pet fashion show allowing pets to showcase their style, a pet talk show featuring prominent figures in the animal care field, beauty and grooming 체험, and specialized medical and traditional Korean medicine centers for pets.

The highly anticipated pet talk show will address various concerns of pet owners. This year’s lineup includes renowned dog trainer Kang Hyeong-wook, Professor Lee Woong-jong, and veterinarian Seol Chae-hyeon, with broadcaster Kim Saet-byeol moderating a medical consultation segment. This popular program is expected to provide valuable insights and foster a deeper understanding between pets and their families.

Recognizing the importance of comfort and enjoyment for both pets and owners, the festival grounds will feature an expanded "Green Rest Area" for relaxation and a maze experience. The agility 체험 zone will also be enhanced, providing more space for pets to play and exercise.

In addition to the activities, a pet fair will host around 22 companies offering a wide array of pet-related products, including pet insurance, supplies, and treats, providing opportunities for shopping and consultations.

No festival is complete without food, and Imsil will not disappoint. Attendees can savor the region's famous aged cheese and unsweetened yogurt, along with Imsil cheese pizza and premium Korean beef dishes prepared by the Hanwoo (Korean beef) Association. The local food market will also offer a variety of regional specialties such as skate (hongeo) salad, pork cutlets, chueotang (loach soup), and spicy pork stew. Sweet treats for children, including cheese ice cream, cheese bread, and handmade cheese hamburgers, will also be available.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the festival will feature performances by top-tier singers. The opening ceremony on May 3rd will include popular artists Lee Chan-won, Son Tae-jin, Kang Hye-yeon, Park Jin-do, and Aurora. On May 4th, the Choi Gap-seok Song Festival will showcase Kim Hee-jae, Koo Chang-mo, and Jeon Jong-hyuk, promising a weekend filled with entertainment.

Imsil County has been proactively developing its infrastructure to become a haven for pet owners. It is home to South Korea's first public pet cemetery, the Osu Pet Memorial Park, as well as the Osu Pet Support Center (Osu Bannyeonuri) and the Osu National Leisure Campground, which allows camping with pets. Furthermore, the county is investing in the creation of a multi-purpose pet park and the "World Famous Dog Theme Land," a future industry hub combining education, 체험, and tourism related to various dog breeds.

County Mayor Shim Min emphasized the significance of the festival, stating, "We are meticulously preparing every aspect of the 2025 Imsil N Pet Star Festival in Osu, the birthplace of the loyal Osu dog, to ensure that pet owners and tourists from across the country can enjoy and be satisfied with their participation. We hope that everyone will come with their beloved pets to create special memories while enjoying the various activities and delicious food." The 2025 Imsil N Pet Star Festival is poised to be a significant event, further solidifying Imsil County's position as a leading destination for pet lovers in South Korea.
