Daejeon and Nanjing City in China are actively continuing their exchange through the '2025 Daejeon-Nanjing International Sports Invitational Exchange Competition'. Nanjing City, which has been a sister city with Daejeon since 2018, is strengthening sports and cultural ties between the two cities on the occasion of this competition.

The 15 members of the Nanjing City No. 12 High School fencing team, who arrived on the 7th, held joint training and friendly matches with high school athletes from Daejeon at the Daejeon Jeil High School fencing center, exchanging techniques and solidifying their friendship. Fencing is a sport that Nanjing City particularly fosters, and it is one of the cities in China with a well-established fencing infrastructure. This exchange went beyond simple sports matches and became a valuable opportunity to understand each other's cultures.

Falling in Love with Daejeon's Charm by Exploring Science and Cultural Infrastructure

In addition to the sports exchange, the Nanjing City team experienced Daejeon's various charms. On the night of the 8th, they attended the opening ceremony of Daejeon's representative summer festival, the '0시 Festival', and enjoyed the splendid performances and street parade, fully experiencing the festive atmosphere with the citizens.

On the 9th, they visited the National Science Museum, the center of the Daedeok Innopolis, and had the opportunity to see and experience Korea's advanced science and technology firsthand. This was an important part of the schedule that showcased Daejeon's identity as a city of science and technology. The Nanjing City team also directly experienced the local culture and life by visiting Daejeon's famous places like Sungsimdang.

This exchange will continue until the 10th, and both cities plan to promote continuous exchanges in various fields such as sports, science, and culture in the future. This exchange competition is expected to greatly contribute to strengthening cooperation between sister cities and promoting understanding among future generations.
