University Actively Promotes Regional Talent Internship Program, Aims for Increased Success Through Systematic Development

Chungnam State University (President Jeong Myeong-gyu) is poised to continue its remarkable 12-year legacy of producing national civil servants, having finalized its preparations for the upcoming year.

The university's Career Development Center announced on April 7th the establishment of its "2025 Regional Talent Grade 9 Internship Program Selection and Operation Plan." This initiative underscores the university's commitment to the systematic selection and cultivation of prospective government employees.

The Regional Talent Grade 9 Internship Program, a government-led recruitment system, offers opportunities for graduates (and graduating students) of specialized colleges to enter public service. The program's objectives include fostering balanced regional development and enhancing the diversity and expertise within the public sector.

While the total number of interns to be selected nationwide this year has slightly decreased to 65 in technical fields, down from 83 in the previous year, Chungnam State University has set an ambitious goal of producing at least four successful candidates. Building upon its consistent success over the past eleven years, the university aims to further solidify its reputation as a distinguished institution for public service advancement.

Chungnam State University will conduct two rounds of selection examinations based on departmental recommendations. The top nine highest-scoring students will be chosen to participate in the intensive support program.

These selected students will benefit from a comprehensive suite of tailored programs offered at the on-campus Public Talent Center. This includes specialized interview coaching, problem-solving sessions, and realistic mock interviews designed to maximize their preparedness for the national civil service examinations.

Yang No-yeol, Head of Planning and Public Relations at Chungnam State University, emphasized the university's significant contribution to the public sector. "Chungnam State University has thus far produced a total of 1,154 public officials, including 25 successful candidates in the Regional Talent Grade 9 Internship Program," he stated. "We remain dedicated to empowering our students to confidently enter public organizations and the broader civil service."

Notably, Chungnam State University has produced 25 successful Regional Talent Grade 9 interns between 2013, when the program was first implemented, and 2024. This achievement positions the university as a top-performing specialized college in the Chungcheong region and highlights its exceptional public service placement rate within the province.

Additional Information:

Significance of the Regional Talent Program: This program is crucial for promoting equitable opportunities for talented individuals from various regions to contribute to national governance. It aims to decentralize the recruitment pool and bring diverse perspectives into the civil service.
Chungnam State University's Consistent Performance: The university's 12-year streak underscores its sustained commitment to nurturing public service talent and its effective strategies in preparing students for the rigorous civil service selection process.
Impact on the Region: The success of Chungnam State University in placing graduates in national civil service positions not only enhances the university's reputation but also contributes to the development of human capital within the Chungcheong region. These graduates often return to serve their local communities in various government roles.
Broader Public Service Placement: The figure of 1,154 public officials produced by Chungnam State University encompasses placements in various levels and branches of government, demonstrating the university's wide-ranging impact on the public sector beyond the Grade 9 internship program.
This expanded article provides a more comprehensive picture of Chungnam State University's achievement and its significance within the broader context of public service recruitment in South Korea.
