From Finding Missing Persons to Urban Safety... CCTV Video Analysis and Movement Path Tracking

On the 29th, Bucheon City held an "AI-Based Physical Security Integrated Control Development Cooperation Business Agreement" ceremony in the city hall meeting room, embarking on the establishment of the nation's first "AI CITY" leading model utilizing AI agents among local governments.

This agreement was promoted to apply AI technology to the urban safety sector and establish an integrated control system that can be utilized in real-life situations, such as finding missing persons, with the participation of the Bucheon Wonmi, Sosa, and Ojeong Police Stations, alongside specialized companies in the AI and security fields, research institutions, public institutions, and universities.

Under the agreement, participating institutions will cooperate on the development, demonstration, and field application of AI-based physical security integrated control technologies based on their respective technologies and expertise, and will jointly verify the performance and applicability of the technology in a real urban environment.

Through this agreement, the city plans to go a step beyond the conventional monitoring method—where Closed-Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) simply detect objects or situations in video footage—to strengthen intelligent monitoring functions where AI comprehensively analyzes multiple videos and information to assist monitoring personnel in their judgment and response.

To achieve this, the city plans to incorporate AI agent technology—which goes beyond merely answering predetermined questions to independently analyzing situations, judging, and executing necessary tasks—into the "AI CITY" platform, and to enhance its applicability through demonstrations in actual urban environments.

In particular, AI agent technology will be utilized to help rapid responses when a missing person occurs. When monitoring personnel or police input information such as the missing person's physical description, time, and location of disappearance, the AI agent analyzes multiple CCTV videos to track their movement path. This reduces the burden on monitoring personnel who previously had to review numerous videos one by one, and quickly identifies information necessary for the search.

Starting with finding missing persons, the city plans to expand the application scope of AI agents to various urban safety fields and enhance the accuracy and usability of the system based on data accumulated in actual fields.

Cho Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon, stated, "Rapid response is paramount in missing person searches and crime prevention. Through this agreement, we will complement the limitations of conventional video monitoring and build a city that more densely protects the lives and safety of its citizens by utilizing AI technology."
