The Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Sung-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Organization) announced that it participated in ‘IMEX America 2026,’ a premier global MICE trade show held in Las Vegas, USA, from October 13 to 15, to promote the tourism charms of Gangwon State and conduct global marketing to attract international conferences and MICE groups.
‘IMEX America’ is a leading MICE industry exhibition attended by over 20,000 global MICE professionals, including international conference planners. At the event, the Organization actively targeted international participants, positioning Gangwon as an attractive destination where visitors can enjoy both international conferences and incentive travel simultaneously.
The Organization showcased Gangwon’s top-tier infrastructure for hosting international meetings, including excellent hotels, resorts, and conference facilities, while intensively promoting tourism programs utilizing its pristine natural environment and four-season attractions. In particular, it highlighted the ‘2026 International Trail Sports Conference (ITSC)’—promoted under the Korea Tourism Organization’s 2026 Global K-Convention Incubation Program—as a prime example of a region-specialized international conference. This event is scheduled to be held at Oak Valley in Wonju from November 6 to 7.
In addition, the Organization held business consultations with global buyers, such as international conference organizing bodies and travel agencies, to raise awareness of Gangwon's potential as a premier meeting destination and to discuss hosting opportunities and future cooperative measures.
Building on the international networks established during this exhibition, the Organization plans to continuously pursue conference bidding proposals and follow-up consultations. By cooperating with local MICE facilities and the tourism industry, it aims to strengthen attraction marketing to secure actual international conference hosting and visits from foreign corporate incentive travel groups.
Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, “Gangwon is a region capable of offering a differentiated MICE experience based on its pristine natural environment, four-season tourism resources, and unique hotels and resorts. Taking this exhibition as an opportunity, we will enhance Gangwon's profile in the global MICE market and expand the attraction of international conferences and corporate incentive tours to contribute to the revitalization of the local tourism industry and economy.”
