Applicable to approximately 1,799 workers in city-affiliated, invested, and entrusted institutions
4.9% increase compared to 2026, 18.0% higher than the 2027 minimum wage

On the 22nd, Daejeon City announced that the Daejeon City Living Wage Committee, comprised of labor representatives, management representatives, and experts, has finalized the hourly living wage for 2027 at 12,630 won.

Notably, this living wage was jointly developed by Daejeon City and its five autonomous districts to apply a uniform amount. This is expected to bridge the living wage gap between the city and districts while contributing to the livelihood stability of low-income workers in the region.

The 2027 Daejeon living wage of 12,630 won per hour represents a 587 won (4.9%) increase from this year's living wage of 12,043 won. It is also 1,930 won (18.0%) higher than the 2027 minimum wage of 10,700 won.

Converted into a monthly salary based on 209 working hours per month, it amounts to 2,639,670 won—an increase of 122,683 won from this year's living wage and 403,370 won more than the monthly converted amount of the 2027 minimum wage.

The application of the living wage is estimated to cover approximately 1,799 low-income workers in the city, its affiliated and invested institutions, and publicly entrusted facilities (including those funded by national and municipal budgets).

"The living wage is a wage policy designed to help low-income workers in the public sector maintain a minimum standard of a dignified life," said Oh Su-geun, Director General of the Civil Society Bureau of Daejeon City. "Building on our initiative to unify the living wage amounts across the city and districts, we will continue to strive for the livelihood stability and improved treatment of local workers."
