"Goseokjeong Flower Fields," Inje "Baekdamsa Temple & Autumn Flower Festival"

Gangwon State and the Gangwon Tourism Organization have selected Cheorwon and Inje as the recommended travel destinations for October as part of the "2026 Gangwon Visiting Year," introducing festivals and tourist spots where visitors can fully enjoy the fragrant autumn flowers.

First, Cheorwon is recommended for its fully bloomed autumn flowers at the "Goseokjeong Flower Fields." Created near the Hantang River as a large-scale seasonal flower garden, it features a harmonious blend of autumn flowers such as cosmos, zinnia, and cockscomb, making it a representative autumn walking and photography spot. This year, the flower fields will be open until October 31. By combining Goseokjeong Flower Fields with the Hantang River Eunhasu Bridge and the Jusangjeolli Gorge Trail, visitors can enjoy Cheorwon’s natural landscapes even more richly. For those who wish to experience history and culture together, the Cheorwon History and Culture Park is also recommended. It is a space recreating the bustling downtown of Cheorwon-eup in the 1930s, allowing visitors to glimpse the appearance of a modern city including the former Cheorwon Station, government offices, and theaters. In addition, visitors can use the Soisan Monorail to view the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and media art displays at the Cheorwon Workers' Party Headquarters will run until October 11.

In Inje, Baekdamsa Temple and the Inje Autumn Flower Festival are recommended together. Baekdamsa Temple, embracing the serene scenery of Inner Seoraksan, is known as the place where the poet Manhae Han Yong-un stayed and wrote his masterpiece, "The Silence of Love." At the Inje Autumn Flower Festival, visitors can enjoy Inje's autumn while taking pictures amidst various themed autumn flowers. This year's festival is held until October 11. For those who want to fully experience autumn foliage, the Twelve Fairy Waterfalls (Sibisnyeotang) cannot be missed. As a representative valley attraction in Inner Seoraksan, it offers breathtaking views dyed in autumn colors. Alongside these spots, visitors can explore literature and calligraphy at the Inje Poetry Museum and the Yeocho Calligraphy Museum, and savor various local delicacies made from dried pollack (hwangtae).

Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "We recommend an autumn trip to Gangwon where visitors can enjoy autumn flowers and foliage as well as local cuisine by visiting Cheorwon and Inje."
