South Korea’s largest telecommunications company, has unveiled the “Genie TV Set-Top Box 4,” the world’s first IPTV set-top box to support 8K resolution and feature on-device AI capabilities.   

The new set-top box is equipped with a cutting-edge 8K UHD chipset that offers a 50% performance boost compared to its predecessors. The integrated AI processor enables the device to optimize video and audio quality, learn from user viewing habits, and deliver a personalized viewing experience.   

Beyond its ability to display stunning 8K content, the set-top box also features AI-powered upscaling technology that enhances the quality of Full HD and 4K content from various sources, including live TV, OTT platforms, and YouTube. Additionally, the device can automatically adjust screen brightness based on ambient light conditions and even turn on the TV at a predetermined time. It also incorporates features such as voice enhancement for clearer dialogue and AI-powered content search that allows users to quickly find specific scenes or characters.
