Latin American Symphony Orchestra Holds "Concerts for Peace" in Santiago del Estero and Tucumán

90 members from 14 countries participate, delivering moving performances in Santiago del Estero and Tucumán.

The Latin American Symphony Orchestra (Artistic Director: Jongwhi Park) successfully held "Concerts for Peace" in Santiago del Estero and Tucumán, northern Argentina, this past February, deeply moving local audiences. Notably, all performances were free of charge, adding to their significance.

This tour took place at the Santiago del Estero Cathedral and Forum, and the San Martín Theater in Tucumán, featuring diverse performances with special guest conductors including Lucía Vallecchi (Mendoza), Sergio Juárez (Santiago del Estero), Jorge Bulacia (Tucumán), and Ignacio Piloni (Uruguay).

The Latin American Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, led by Korean conductor Jongwhi Park. He recruited musicians from across Latin America online, aiming to deliver hope to the younger generation through art and music, regardless of race, belief, or social class. Currently, 90 musicians from 15 countries, including Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, Venezuela, Guatemala, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru, Paraguay, and Argentina, are active in the orchestra.

The "Concerts for Peace" featured masterpieces by classical giants such as Dvořák, Rossini, Suppé, and Tchaikovsky, along with passionate Latin American music. In particular, the Korean folk song "Miryang Arirang," Paraguay's "Pájaro Campana," and Brazil's "Tico-Tico no Fubá" were performed as encore pieces, receiving enthusiastic responses from the audience.

This performance was sponsored by GPIE Co., Ltd. of Korea, and the Latin American Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to hold "Concerts for Peace" again in Ecuador and Uruguay in 2026.

Carnival Overture – Dvořák (Conducted by Jongwhi Park)

William Tell Overture – Rossini / Fiesta Criolla – Gomes Carrillo (Conducted by Sergio Juárez)

Huapango / Toreador Song from Carmen Overture (Conducted by Lucía Vallecchi)

Symphonic Variations on an R. Lada Theme / Slavic Dance No. 8 – Dvořák (Conducted by Ignacio Piloni)

Light Cavalry Overture – Suppé / Slavic Dance No. 1 – Dvořák (Conducted by Gustavo Gomez Nardo)

Slavic March – Tchaikovsky (Conducted by Jongwhi Park)

Encore: Miryang Arirang – Kim Hee-jo, Pájaro Campana, Tico-Tico no Fubá
