Culture and Art Complex (formerly the Local Administration Training Institute) on November 7
Chungbuk Culture and Arts Foundation to host the 'Goof-off Festival' at the Chungbuk

Chungcheongbuk-do and the Chungbuk Culture and Arts Foundation (CEO Kim Kyung-shik) announced that they will host the "Goof-off Festival," the second event of the 2026 Chungbuk Culture and Arts Planning Exhibition, on November 7 (Sat) from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM around the Chungbuk Culture and Art Complex (formerly the Local Administration Training Institute) located in Gadeok-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si.

This festival is part of the process to explore new ways to utilize the former training institute, showcasing the potential of a new complex cultural space by combining art, creation, ecology, and play with its existing educational and training functions. Under the theme of "Play well and rest well through art... Even goofing off is art!", the event is designed to expand everyday "rest" and "goofing off" into cultural and artistic activities, providing opportunities for communication across generations.

The main venue is organized into sensory-satisfying theme zones: ▲ Goof Zone: Cultural and art experiences, ▲ Eat Zone: Various foods, ▲ Buy Zone: Art market and garage sale, ▲ Play Zone: Nostalgic games, and ▲ Lounge Zone: Performances and relaxation, allowing visitors to stay and enjoy freely.

Key programs include "Picnic with Artists," a day spent with residency artists; "Goof-off Workshop," an art experience booth; and "It's Okay to Beat," a percussion experience and parade utilizing everyday percussion instruments. In particular, the "Rhythm Circle" performance, which combines Brazilian percussion with traditional Korean rhythms, is expected to be a special stage where visitors can participate together.

In addition, cross-generational goof-off classes such as "Blank Playground," "Show Off Anything You've Got" to show off hidden hobbies and talents, the "Goof-off Autumn Sports Day," and the "Treasure Reconnaissance Unit" to learn about Chungbuk's literary and artistic assets will also take place.

For family visitors, there will be live performances including the "Bubble Magic Show," "Sabpi's Goof-off Show," and the crossover group "SEOHARoad," which blends haegeum (traditional Korean string instrument) and jazz.

In the open play space, visitors can enjoy play and relaxation together through activities such as "Lying on the grass and doing nothing" and "Drawing pictures on the ground." Furthermore, the "Goof-off Market," featuring 50 teams of provincial resident sellers, will share the value of resource circulation through the sale and exchange of secondhand and vintage goods.

Kim Kyung-shik, CEO of the Chungbuk Culture and Arts Foundation, stated, "This Goof-off Festival is an event where anyone can naturally experience culture and art through everyday play and rest. I hope this serves as an opportunity for the former training institute to establish itself as an open culture and art playground for provincial residents and a space for creation and exchange for local artists."

The festival is open to everyone, and some experience programs will operate through both advance registration (https://linktr.ee/ddanjit_festival) and on-site participation. Detailed information can be found on the Chungbuk Culture and Arts Foundation website and official social media channels, or by contacting the Chungbuk Culture and Art Complex Operations Team (☎ 043-299-9385).
