Chungnam Province took its first step towards creating cities where young people want to live by holding a "Briefing Session on the Youth-Friendly City Designation System" for city and county officials at the provincial government conference room on the 10th.
This briefing was organized to enhance understanding of the Prime Minister's Office's Youth-Friendly City designation system and to support cities and counties in the province in formulating strategies that meet the designation requirements.
The Youth-Friendly City system is an initiative promoted by the Prime Minister's Office to improve the quality of life for young people and encourage them to settle in local areas. It is evaluated and designated primarily based on policy design and implementation that reflect the opinions of local youth.
During the briefing, a youth policy expert was invited to lecture on the purpose of the system and methods for strategy development. Customized consulting for each city and county was also provided based on prior demand surveys.
The province plans to closely cooperate with each city and county and continue practical consultations to enhance the effectiveness of youth policies.
Nam Seong-yeon, Director of the Provincial Youth Policy, stated, "To create a Chungnam where young people stay, return, and seek out, it is crucial for the province and its cities/counties to work together as one to implement policies." He added, "This briefing will serve as an opportunity to further accelerate the creation of youth-friendly cities that young people can truly experience."
