Starting July 1st, Bucheon City began operating the public indoor swimming pool and gym within the Songnae National Sports Center in Songnae-dong, Sosa-gu, receiving a great response from local residents.

The Songnae National Sports Center is a large-scale multi-purpose sports facility with a total floor area of 10,000㎡, spanning from two underground floors to four above-ground floors. Key facilities include a state-of-the-art indoor swimming pool and gym, multi-purpose fitness areas, and viewing and resting spaces.

Notably, the swimming pool on the 3rd floor consists of a 25m 5-lane adult pool and a children's pool. It's the first facility in Bucheon City to install a ramp for the elderly and infirm. In addition, separate male and female shower rooms and changing rooms, instructor rooms, and viewing areas are also provided.

To prevent leakage of 500 tons of water from the above-ground swimming pool to the lower levels, an inter-floor pit layer was installed, and the structural frame was additionally constructed with flexible sheet waterproofing. Specifically, the pool's interior tank was finished with sheet-type membrane waterproofing.

Furthermore, for optimal water quality management, the swimming pool operates an ultrasonic composite filter and a UV sterilization system more than five times a day (standard is three or more times) to remove sediment and maintain residual chlorine and pH levels below standard values.

Moreover, hot and cold water circulation heat exchangers are used to supply water at an appropriate temperature year-round, and floor heating has been applied to the swimming pool and shower rooms to prepare for the winter cold. Geothermal heating and cooling systems and dehumidifiers were also installed to save energy and minimize ceiling condensation.

Kim Eui-bin, head of Bucheon City's Facility Construction Division, stated, "Indoor swimming pools are highly preferred sports facilities for citizens. The Songnae National Sports Center has been meticulously completed with optimal design and systems to ensure citizens can use it safely and comfortably, creating a highly satisfying sports environment. We hope for widespread use."

For inquiries regarding the use and application for the Songnae National Sports Center, please contact the Bucheon Urban Corporation Songnae Sports Center Team at 032-625-5355~6.
