Gyeonggi Province, South Korea – The Seohae Rang cable car, the only sea cable car in the Seoul metropolitan area connecting Jeon Gok Port and Jebu Island in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, has announced a vibrant spring makeover. This renewal celebrates its selection as one of the ‘Korea Tourism 100’ for 2025 and 2026 and aims to offer visitors a fresh and enchanting experience.

To welcome the spring season, the Seohae Rang cable cars are transforming into ‘Flower Cable Cars,’ adorned with a variety of blossoms including cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, and camellias, promising a truly unique visual treat. Starting March 21st, visitors can enjoy this floral spectacle as 10 of the crystal cabins, featuring transparent floors, will be decorated. Furthermore, the cable car stations, both inside and out, will feature numerous flower-themed photo zones, allowing guests to capture the beautiful essence of spring.

The newly revamped Seohae Rang cable car will begin operations on March 21st, with the goal of providing visitors with unforgettable moments. The cable car offers a distinctive experience of viewing the pristine natural scenery of Jebu Island, often called the ‘mysterious island’ for its unique tidal road phenomenon, from above. Combined with the flower-themed decorations and photo spots, Seohae Rang aims to create lasting memories for all visitors. The company stated its commitment to continuously plan seasonal flower art spaces to provide enjoyable and healing experiences for its guests throughout the year.

Special March Events, Including Free Rides on a Snowy White Day

Adding to the spring excitement, Seohae Rang cable car has planned several special events for March. Notably, on White Day, March 14th, if snow falls, cable car rides will be free. The criteria for snowfall are defined as 1mm or more of accumulation according to the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast for Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong City. In the absence of snow, all visitors will still receive a generous 30% discount on their tickets.

In commemoration of the March 1st Independence Movement Day, national veterans will receive a 50% discount on their fares. Additionally, hashtag and Naver review events celebrating the ‘Korea Tourism 100’ selection will also be held.

Ticket Prices:

Regular Cabin (opaque floor): Adults ₩19,000 / Children (36 months to elementary school) ₩15,000
Crystal Cabin (transparent floor): Adults ₩24,000 / Children ₩19,000
About Seohae Rang Jebu Island Marine Cable Car:

‘Seohae Rang’ (서해랑) encapsulates the essence of the Jebu Island (嶼, seo) and Jeon Gok Port (전곡항) connection over the West Sea (海, hae) waves (浪, rang). It is the longest domestic sea cable car route that operates entirely above the water. Each cabin can accommodate up to 10 people, and a round trip takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This unique cable car offers breathtaking views of the sea and the intertidal ecosystem, attracting over 600,000 tourists annually. The operating hours for Seohae Rang are from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekends. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the ticket offices located on the first floor of both Jeon Gok and Jebu stations, and online reservations are also available.

Jebu Island: The 'Mysterious Island'

Jebu Island is famous for its unique ‘Moses Miracle’ – a natural causeway that emerges from the sea during low tide, connecting the island to the mainland. This tidal road allows visitors to walk or drive to the island at specific times and is a major attraction in itself, offering opportunities for clam digging and observing the diverse marine life. The island also boasts scenic beaches, hiking trails, and charming fishing villages, making it a popular destination for day trips and weekend getaways from the Seoul metropolitan area. The Seohae Rang cable car provides an unparalleled aerial perspective of this natural wonder and the surrounding coastline.
