The acclaimed stage production The Cherry Orchard, starring prominent South Korean actors Jeon Do-yeon and Park Hae-soo, is set to wrap up its three-year global tour with performances in New York City.

The LG Arts Center announced on the 1st that the production will run from the 16th to the 26th at the Wade Thompson Drill Hall inside New York's Park Avenue Armory.

Invited as part of the Park Avenue Armory’s official programming, the production will stage a total of 11 performances in the approximately 1,200-seat venue. This marks the first time a South Korean theatrical production has been presented at the Park Avenue Armory.

The Cherry Orchard is a contemporary reimagining of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov’s classic play, adapted to reflect modern South Korean society.

Produced by the LG Arts Center and directed by acclaimed director Simon Stone, the production premiered in June 2024 at the LG Arts Center Seoul.

Following its domestic run in Busan, the production embarked on an international tour stopping in Hong Kong and Singapore last year, and Adelaide, Australia earlier this year. The upcoming New York engagement will serve as the grand finale of its three-year journey.

The New York cast will feature nine original members from the Seoul premiere—including Jeon Do-yeon, Park Hae-soo, Son Sang-gyu, Choi Hee-seo, Lee Ji-hye, and Nam Yoon-ho—alongside actress Park Hee-jung, who joined the ensemble this year.

Director Simon Stone noted, "The Cherry Orchard sharply contrasts pre-revolutionary Russian aristocracy with modern South Korean society through a family that refuses to adapt as the world around them changes," adding, "I have learned so much collaborating with incredible artists from South Korea's theater and film industries. It is an honor to return to the Park Avenue Armory with such a uniquely gifted cast and creative team."
