Busan Unveils 'Killer Content' to Attract Tourists from Gangwon and Gyeongbuk

Busan, South Korea – As the opening of the Busan-Gangneung ITX and Busan-Cheongnyangni KTX lines approaches, the city of Busan has unveiled a strategy to attract tourists from the Gangwon and Gyeongbuk provinces. With significantly reduced travel times, Busan is poised to become a more accessible destination for residents of these regions.

To capitalize on this opportunity, Busan has identified three "killer content" areas: urban tourism, gourmet tourism, and nighttime tourism.

For urban tourism, the city plans to introduce sightseeing bus tours connecting popular destinations like Marine City, Dongbaek Island, Gwanganri Beach, Gamcheon Culture Village, Songdo Cable Car, Centum City, and Arte Museum Busan.

To promote gourmet tourism, Busan will highlight its diverse culinary scene and develop new food tourism products, including Michelin-starred dining experiences.

Nighttime tourism will be boosted through the promotion of attractions like the "Starry Sea Busan," the "Gwanganri M Drone Light Show," and "The Bay 101."

To support these initiatives, Busan has developed a comprehensive plan with 12 detailed projects, focusing on:

Improving tourist infrastructure: Enhancing facilities and signage around Busan Station, a new gateway to the city.
Developing joint tourism products with Korail: Offering discounted travel packages and combined tickets for Busan and other destinations.
Creating new tourism products: Developing themed tours, such as coastal railway tours and combined tours with neighboring regions like Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.
Strengthening regional cooperation: Collaborating with neighboring provinces to create joint marketing campaigns and promote regional tourism.
"With the opening of the Busan-Gangneung ITX and Busan-Cheongnyangni KTX lines, we have an opportunity to showcase the unique charm of Busan to residents of the East Coast and central inland regions," said a Busan city official. "By developing new tourism products and enhancing our infrastructure, we aim to attract more visitors and strengthen our position as a major tourist destination."
