Incheon iH Accelerates Development of Guwol i-City Public Housing Complex

The Incheon Metropolitan City Housing Corporation (iH) has announced that it has submitted an application for the approval of the district plan for the Guwol i-City public housing complex to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport on October 30th. The corporation aims to begin construction in the first half of 2027, following the anticipated approval of the district plan in the first half of 2026.

Guwol i-City is being developed in line with the government's housing supply policy to secure high-quality public housing and provide affordable homes. Spanning 2.2 million square meters (approximately 670,000 pyeong) across Guwol-dong, Namchon-dong, and Susan-dong in Namdong-gu, Seonhak-dong in Yeonsu-gu, and Munhak-dong and Gwankyo-dong in Michuhol-gu, the project will provide 16,000 housing units, accommodating approximately 39,000 residents.

Strategically located just 2 kilometers from Incheon City Hall and the Incheon Education Office, Guwol i-City offers excellent accessibility. It is also conveniently located near public facilities such as Namdong Police Station, Incheon Intercity Bus Terminal, and Incheon Arts Center, as well as major shopping centers. In addition, the area is well-connected by public transportation, with Munhak Stadium Station on Incheon Subway Line 1 and the Namdong Interchange of the Second Gyeongin Expressway in close proximity.

iH envisions Guwol i-City as a future city that symbolizes Incheon, featuring a compact city with high-density development around transportation hubs, a complex space combining culture and entrepreneurship, a specialized health and medical city, and an education-focused city that is safe for children.
