Argentina to Implement Electronic Ear Tags for Cattle

Argentina is set to mandate the use of electronic ear tags for cattle starting March 2025. This initiative aims to enhance transparency in the livestock industry, facilitate disease management, and improve traceability.

Six companies participated in the tender, including Vesta SA, Carreteles Rafaela SA, Villanueva SA, ACA, Queclink Wireless Solutions Co.Ltd, Datamars, and Lecvet SRL. Datamars received particular attention for submitting the lowest bid.

This initiative is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of Argentina's livestock industry and establish a safe and internationally compliant food production system. By enhancing transparency, the system is expected to bolster consumer confidence and improve export competitiveness.
