Provincial Government holds the "2026 Chungmu Exercise Initial Situation Reporting Meeting" on the 12th… Conducting actual training for 4 days

Chungcheongnam-do has officially launched the "2026 Chungmu Exercise" to verify the effectiveness of its wartime mobilization posture.

On the 12th, the province held the "2026 Chungmu Exercise Initial Situation Reporting Meeting" at the Wartime General Situation Room inside the Provincial Office's Chungmu Facility, inspecting the preparedness for transitioning to a wartime administrative system and major action items for each bureau, office, and headquarters.

Attended by Governor Park Soo-hyun, the Vice Governor for Political Affairs, and around 30 heads of bureaus, offices, and headquarters, the meeting proceeded in the order of a professional report on situation creation and situation reports by each bureau, office, headquarters, and committee.

The Chungmu Exercise is an emergency preparedness drill designed to verify the effectiveness of the Chungmu Plan and master implementation procedures in preparation for wartime, incidents, or equivalent national emergencies.

This year's exercise takes place across the province for four days from the 12th to the 15th, focusing heavily on actual training, including situation response exercises, mobilization training for major resources such as skilled personnel, vehicles, and construction machinery, industrial mobilization material production training, and national critical facility damage restoration training.

During the meeting, assuming a situation where war signs were identified and the government declared a Grade 3 Chungmu Exercise emergency state, the professional text on situation creation was shared.

Subsequently, each bureau, office, and headquarters reported major action items according to their respective Chungmu Plans and key focal points for the upcoming exercise, checking the preparation status for the transition to a wartime administrative system.

Through this exercise, the province plans to inspect actual mobilization procedures and the ability of each organization to perform its duties, and to reflect any problems and areas for improvement identified during the exercise into the Chungmu Plan.

At the meeting, Governor Park emphasized, "Military tensions between the North and South are escalating, and geopolitical risks are rising due to strategic competition between the US and China and North Korea's close ties with China and Russia. Peace can only be maintained when we have the capability to defend our region."

Governor Park added, "We must be able to maintain provincial administrative functions without disruption in an emergency, perfectly support military operations, and protect the lives and property of our residents. We will create the success of this exercise together through an organic cooperative system with related organizations, including linking fire and police public safety and rescue activities."
