Iksan, South Korea – Harim, a leading food company in South Korea, has unveiled its state-of-the-art “First Kitchen” facility, a comprehensive food production hub designed to streamline the entire food production process from manufacturing to delivery.

Located in Hamyeol-eup, Iksan, the First Kitchen showcases Harim’s commitment to providing the freshest and most delicious food products to consumers. The facility houses a fully integrated production line where everything from manufacturing, order processing, packaging, and delivery is carried out under one roof.

“The essence of food is taste, and the best taste comes from fresh ingredients,” said a Harim spokesperson. The company’s philosophy is evident in its First Kitchen, where the focus is on delivering the freshest food to consumers as quickly as possible.

A Tour of the First Kitchen

A recent tour of the First Kitchen provided a comprehensive look at Harim’s production process. The facility is divided into several sections: K1 to K3 (Kitchen 1 to 3) and FBH (Fulfillment By Harim). K1 is dedicated to producing broths, HMR (Home Meal Replacement) products, processed meats, and sauces. K2 focuses on producing instant rice, while K3 specializes in noodles. All products manufactured in these kitchens are then consolidated at FBH for sorting, packaging, and distribution.

Innovative Production Processes

Harim's production processes set it apart from its competitors. For instance, the company employs a unique drying method for its noodles, using high-temperature air to dry the noodles from both the top and bottom, resulting in a superior texture.

In the instant rice production area, Harim uses only rice and water, avoiding the use of additives. The company also maintains a cleanroom environment with microfilters to prevent contamination, extending the shelf life of its instant rice products by a month compared to competitors.

FBH: The Heart of the Operation

FBH, or Fulfillment By Harim, is the central hub for order fulfillment. This state-of-the-art facility is fully integrated with the production lines, allowing for seamless transfer of products from manufacturing to the warehouse. Harim produces its own packaging materials, including ice packs, dry ice, and cushioning materials, to ensure the safe delivery of products.

“By eliminating the need for multiple handling and reducing packaging waste, we can significantly reduce costs and minimize our environmental impact,” said a Harim spokesperson.

Commitment to Quality and Freshness

In the afternoon, the tour continued to Harim’s headquarters, where visitors observed the poultry processing operations. Harim employs a rigorous eight-step process, including gas stunning, bleeding, defeathering, and air chilling, to ensure the freshness and quality of its poultry products.

Gas stunning, a humane method of stunning poultry before slaughter, reduces stress and improves meat quality. Air chilling, a process that rapidly cools the poultry using cold air, helps to preserve flavor and texture.

A Commitment to Excellence

“As more foreign food companies enter the Korean market, it is essential for us to remain competitive,” said a Harim representative. “By focusing on quality, freshness, and innovation, we can continue to provide consumers with the best possible food products.”

Harim’s First Kitchen is a testament to the company’s commitment to food safety, quality, and sustainability. By integrating the entire food production process under one roof, Harim is able to deliver fresh, delicious, and convenient food products directly to consumers.
