Hyundai and Kia Achieve Record-Breaking February Sales in the U.S.

"Hyundai and Kia achieved a new record for February sales in the U.S., selling 130,000 units last month. This marks the fifth consecutive month of record-breaking monthly sales in the U.S. for Hyundai and Kia, a streak that began in October of last year. This success is attributed to strong sales of eco-friendly vehicles such as hybrid and electric cars, as well as SUVs.

According to Hyundai Motor Group on the 2nd, Hyundai and Kia sold 130,881 units in the U.S. last month, a 5.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Both Hyundai and Kia achieved their highest February sales figures ever. Hyundai sold 67,578 units, a 4.1% increase from the previous year.

Hybrid car sales led the record-breaking streak, with a 57% increase from the previous year. Electric vehicle sales also increased by 35% during the same period. By model, Santa Fe Hybrid sales surged by 194% from the previous year, while the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 increased by 22% and 12%, respectively. The best-selling model, Tucson, sold 16,317 units, a 2% increase from the previous year. Genesis sales also increased by 20% to 5,546 units.

Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, stated, 'We will further increase our market share based on our strong and diverse product lineup and meet customer expectations.'

Kia America also broke its record for the highest February sales. Kia sold 63,303 units in the U.S., a 7.2% increase from the same period last year, extending its streak of record-breaking monthly U.S. sales to five months. The Sportage (13,072 units) and K4 (including K3, 11,669 units) led the sales. The popularity of Kia's recreational vehicles (RVs) remained strong, with Carnival and Telluride sales increasing by 44.4% and 12.8%, respectively, from the previous year."
