Mexico is well know for its delicious food: tacos, quesadillas, tequila etc. But we have some things that people from other countries may not know about how we use som ingredientes from our country. 

For example, alcoholic beverages like "mezcal" and "tequila" are sometimes used to help improve cold symptoms like the sore throat. Some people drink it alone and some with honey and lemon, but always in small cuantities. This belief comes from the mexican revolution times, when the spanish flu hit the population of Mexico; mexican doctors would recomend drinking this beverages since they believed the alcohol served as an antiseptic and would prevent the transmission of the flu.

Another interesting thing is that we have a type of cactus that it's completely edible, it is called "nopal" and it's sold in every supermaket. To eat it, we take out the thorns from it and boil it with salt since it helps remove its slugy texture, once it's boiled you can prepare it however you like: you can make tacos, put it in quesadillas or sopes, eat it as a salad... and a lot of variants. The fruit of the nopal it's also edible, it's called "tuna" and has a very sweet flavor, like a candy. Also, our national coat of arms has a nopal (the eagle is standing in it), so its a very representative plant of Mexico.
