Exploring ways to strengthen Ulsan's shipbuilding and logistics competitiveness in the era of the Arctic Sea Route

 

The 6223 Future Forum, which presents a vision for Ulsan's new leap forward, will host a symposium titled 'The Arctic Sea Route and the Future of Ulsan' at the Grand Auditorium of the Ulsan Museum on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, at 3:00 PM.

The opening of the Arctic Sea Route, which is becoming a reality due to climate change, is gaining attention as a 'game changer' that will shift the global logistics landscape. For Ulsan, a key hub for the shipbuilding, marine, and logistics industries, the Arctic Sea Route presents both new opportunities and challenges.

This symposium will be a venue for discussing concrete strategies to ensure the development of the Arctic Sea Route can become a new future growth engine for Ulsan.

The keynote presentation for this symposium will be given by Yoon Hak-bae, former Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, who will offer insights into the strategic value of the Arctic Sea Route and Ulsan's response measures.

The subsequent panel discussion will feature experts from various fields who will conduct an in-depth analysis of the ripple effects the Arctic Sea Route will have on Ulsan and explore ways to enhance its competitiveness.

 - Jung Jae-joon, Senior Executive Vice President of Shipbuilding Design Division,HD Hyundai Heavy Industries

A forum official stated, "We will explore ways for Ulsan to further solidify its position as a global shipbuilding and logistics center in the era of the Arctic Sea Route," adding, "We anticipate great interest and participation from relevant companies, experts, and citizens."

This 6223 Future Forum is expected to be an important turning point that will present a strategic roadmap for Ulsan's sustainable growth, including Arctic Sea Route-related technology development, eco-friendly shipbuilding, and logistics hub creation.
