"Galaxy Able" Instead of Buds? Samsung Rumored to Be Developing a Brand-New Type of Earbuds

Recent sightings of a mysterious new product in Samsung Electronics’ wireless audio lineup have sparked significant industry buzz.

According to a report by IT media outlet PhoneArena on April 2 (local time), a new device name, "Galaxy Buds Able," was discovered during a deep dive into the code of a Galaxy Buds-related application.

Breaking the Naming Tradition
The most striking aspect of this discovery is the departure from Samsung’s established naming conventions. Historically, Samsung has used specific themes—such as the names of famous composers—for internal product codenames. The simple use of the word "Able" marks a rare and unusual shift in their strategy.

The model number also signals a major change:

Standard Buds Series: Typically follow the "SM-R" numbering system (e.g., Galaxy Buds 4 Pro).
The New Mystery Device: Carries the model number "SM-U600".
As there are currently no devices in the Samsung ecosystem using the "SM-U" designation, analysts suggest this is likely a brand-new product category rather than a simple variant of existing models.


A New Category: "Galaxy Able"?
Interestingly, some strings of code refer to the device simply as "Galaxy Able" rather than "Galaxy Buds Able." This suggests that Samsung may still be finalizing the branding or that the product might sit entirely outside the traditional "Buds" family.

Industry Insight: Many experts are linking the name "Able" to Accessibility.
There is growing speculation that Samsung is developing an Over-the-Counter (OTC) hearing aid or a specialized hearing enhancement device. This move would mirror Apple’s recent strategy of strengthening hearing assistance features in the AirPods Pro 2, tapping into the expanding health-tech market.

Potential Scenarios for the "SM-U600"
While the hearing-aid theory is strong, other possibilities remain on the table:

Fitness-Centric Wearable: A device dedicated to advanced biometric tracking.
Next-Gen Audio: A new form factor utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for specialized audio experiences.
Simplified Audio: A unique entry-level or niche wearable.

Expansion of the Galaxy Ecosystem
Samsung has been aggressively expanding its audio footprint lately, following the release of the Galaxy Buds 4 series and the budget-friendly Buds Core. If the "Galaxy Able" comes to fruition, it could represent the starting point of a completely new category in wearable technology.

For now, these details remain in the early stages of discovery within app source code. The tech world is eagerly awaiting further leaks or an official announcement from Samsung to confirm the true nature of this "Able" device.
