IPS Elevates Patients' Quality of Life with Water: Expanding Hydrotherapy Services

The Institute of Social Provision (IPS) is revitalizing patient treatment and rehabilitation by expanding its hydrotherapy (Hidroterapia) services. By providing customized, individual treatment for both child and adult patients, IPS is helping to aid in the recovery from a variety of conditions, including neurological, traumatic, and post-surgical illnesses.

The hydrotherapy rooms within the IPS's "Comprehensive Health Specialty Center" (CESI) offer individual or group treatments tailored to each patient's needs. Physiotherapist Licenciada Iris Martinez explained, "While some patients require more intensive individual treatment, others can benefit from group treatment, where they can achieve synergy together," emphasizing the importance of a customized approach. IPS has strengthened its expertise by securing nine adult hydrotherapy specialists and five child hydrotherapy specialists.

Hydrotherapy: A Scientific Treatment Beyond Simple Water Play

Hydrotherapy is a scientific treatment method that aims to treat illnesses and alleviate symptoms by utilizing the properties of warm water. Treatment in water is highly effective in improving blood circulation, increasing joint range of motion, reducing inflammation, and alleviating chronic pain. This is a result of the combined effects of the water's buoyancy, resistance, and warm temperature.

In addition to physical health, hydrotherapy also has a positive effect on mental health. It lowers anxiety, relieves depression, and improves sleep quality, providing patients with overall comfort and a sense of well-being. This is a crucial element that helps lessen the psychological burden patients experience during the treatment process and encourages them to participate more actively in rehabilitation.

A Patient-Centered, Systematic Treatment System

Hydrotherapy services provide optimized treatment to patients through a systematic process. Patients must first schedule an appointment for the "Department of Physiotherapy" through the IPS call center or the CESI front desk. After being evaluated by a specialist from the Department of Physiotherapy, if hydrotherapy is deemed necessary, the attending physician will establish a suitable treatment plan for the patient.

Most treatments consist of 10 sessions and are applied to both the fields of traumatology and neurology. For the convenience of patients, the IPS "Center for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation" (CMFYR) operates hydrotherapy services during extended hours: Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The expansion of IPS's hydrotherapy services is regarded as a significant step in substantially improving the quality of life for patients through the healing power of water. IPS is expected to continue to discover innovative, patient-centered treatment services to contribute to the promotion of public health.
