'Goddess of Victory: Nikke' 4th Anniversary Special Broadcast: "Concluding the Ark Story... Preparing for What Lies Beyond the Final Battle"

To celebrate its 4th anniversary, Goddess of Victory: Nikke is bringing the story of the Ark to a conclusion in Main Story Chapter 50. As Nikkes gather with newfound power for the 3rd Surface Reclamation Operation, a concurrent special event will explore Marian's past and the hidden secrets behind the relationships between key characters. The development team has also teased that the story will continue beyond this climactic showdown.

On October 24th at 7:00 PM, Level Infinite hosted the Goddess of Victory: Nikke 4th anniversary special broadcast on its official YouTube channel, developed by Shift Up. Presented in the style of an operation briefing where Counter members check their combat readiness ahead of the final battle, the broadcast introduced new content alongside commentary from Director Yoo Hyung-seok and other key developers discussing their design intentions.

The core of this update centers on the 3rd Surface Reclamation Operation, fought for the fate of the Ark. Nikkes like Rapi, Anis, and Neon clash against the Queen—who takes the shape of a massive Goddess of Victory statue—as characters who have built up their respective narratives gather on a single battlefield.

Jung Jae-sung, Shift Up’s Scenario Director, shared, "Deciding how to properly conclude all the accumulated narratives and various elements we've built up over time was our biggest challenge. We sincerely hope this conclusion satisfies as many players as possible."

The update also previews Nikkes returning with new powers alongside long-awaited characters. "We wanted to convey the feeling that every single Nikke is giving their absolute all in this final battle," Director Jung explained. "We also put a lot of effort into making sure players realize that this final battle is not the end, but that there is more to come."

Main Story Chapter 50 marks the point where the Ark's story concludes. To fully understand the upcoming climax, Director Jung recommends playing through Chapter 48 beforehand. Revisiting previous anniversary and half-anniversary event stories will also prove helpful, while the current event story is best enjoyed after viewing its prologue.

The 4th-anniversary story event, "MARIA-n," centers around Marian and delves deep into the relationship between two individuals. Director Jung noted, "It will likely serve as the answer to why those two are drawn so strongly to each other," explaining that the event will untangle questions surrounding their relationship through the events they experienced and the resulting outcomes.

The new playable Nikke, "Marian: Queen," emphasizes a powerful and majestic presence. Symbolized by a black hole, cosmic elements like starlight, a staff, and glowing hair were incorporated to create the image of a cosmic queen, complete with a wedding dress costume.

Joo Ho-young, Shift Up’s Character Art Team Leader, remarked, "We wanted her to look like the happiest bride possible, so we paid meticulous attention to every single detail, from her makeup and veil to her hairband." Director Yoo added that since the game's launch, there had been fan requests for a wedding-dressed Marian, and after waiting for the right moment that fit the narrative, they decided to unveil it for the 4th anniversary.

Also joining the final battle are "Scarlet: Shadowless" and "Rapunzel: Sanctuary." Scarlet: Shadowless features a stark contrast between her pre- and post-transformation states. Before transforming, her defensive armor is emphasized, while her post-transformation form maximizes the fast and sharp imagery unique to "Scarlet: Black Shadow."

"Our direction was to push the distinct characteristics of the original Scarlet and Scarlet: Black Shadow to their absolute limits," Team Leader Joo explained. "Making the contrast between the two states distinctly palpable was the core focus of this design."

Rapunzel: Sanctuary takes the concept of a saint whose long-kept faith has become her power. Red Shoes' parts were reconfigured into halos and wings, reflecting the character's narrative onto her appearance. Team Leader Joo noted, "The power that once used to control someone has now become a power to protect someone."

Music and visual effects were also tailored to highlight the contrast between the two distinct stories: the large-scale military conflict and the intimate past of an individual. Joo Jong-hyun, Shift Up’s Sound Director, described the main story music as "music that empowers the listener," while the Marian event incorporates mystical sounds and cinematic direction.

Kim Jae-yong, Shift Up’s Associate VFX Team Leader, explained, "While intense warfare between factions unfolds on one side, a deep personal narrative—which can be considered the origin of everything—takes place on the other." Accordingly, the main chapters feature flashy and radical visual direction, while the event chapters focus heavily on key narrative moments.

Exclusive skill visual effects are also applied to select costumes. Marian’s wedding costume contrasts against her traditionally dark, cosmic aesthetic by utilizing bright tones and blue roses. Meanwhile, Snow White's new costume combines medieval design with classic digital and sci-fi imagery, ensuring players can feel the concept and narrative embedded in the costumes right in the heat of battle.

The update introduces "Fading Affection," a narrative-driven minigame designed to complement Marian's story. Similar to "White Memory" from "Over Zone," players make choices to retrace memories and uncover detailed events experienced by Marian during the story.

Progress, returning player support, and quality-of-life improvements are also on the way. Clearing main story events will yield rewards, and a "Synchro Boost" system will be added to grant rewards as the Synchro Device reaches designated levels. Missions and rewards for returning users are also being enhanced.

Champion Arena will officially launch, expanding participant slots for each Special Arena server from the top 4 to the top 8. Players will be able to modify their squad formations one more time during the quarterfinals and finals. Additionally, a Chibi (SD) character-driven diorama lobby and expanded lobby customization slots were teased.

A musical collaboration with Stellar Blade is set for "Tracing the Stars," introducing 22 new tracks along with note skins, minigame backgrounds, and new characters.

The celebration extends beyond the digital screen starting October 30th through November 1st, featuring a stamp rally linked with outdoor advertising at Yongsan I'Park Mall, with pre-registrations opening on the 26th. Further offline and merchandising plans include a third orchestra concert, a collaboration with Musinsa, participation in AGF in December, and a Main Story Complete Album.

Director Yoo concluded, "Our development team has poured everything from the past four years into preparing for this final battle as if it were our own. We truly hope you will fully enjoy this 4th-anniversary festival, which holds the fruits of our fierce efforts."
