Seoul, Republic of Korea – The Australian Embassy's Trade and Investment Commission will present the 'Australian Premium Lamb Food Truck' at 'Picnic on the Bridge,' a signature program of the '2025 Seoul Food Festival,' to be held on May 31st at Jamsu Bridge in Seoul. This event is part of the 'Taste of Australia – #AussieLambEatsLamb' campaign, offering visitors a special opportunity to taste premium lamb from pristine Australia for free.

Lamb Meets Korean Cuisine, Opening New Culinary Horizons

Operating from 12 PM to 8 PM, the 'Australian Premium Lamb Food Truck's' main dish will be 'Lamb Mushroom Bulgogi & Perilla Dressing Romaine Salad,' utilizing lamb shoulder roll. This dish harmoniously combines tender and savory Australian premium lamb with the familiar taste of Korean Bulgogi, developed to be enjoyed by all ages.

Notably, the lamb, reinterpreted in a Bulgogi style, is enhanced with a special sauce to perfect its flavor, while the romaine salad evokes a healthy image reminiscent of 'ssam,' a unique Korean food culture. This menu was personally developed by Chef Lee Jung-hyun (CEO of Yanginhwandae), who serves as the official promotional chef for Australian premium lamb and a 'Lambassador.'

'Lambassador' is a portmanteau of 'Ambassador' and 'Lamb,' a global chef ambassador program run to promote Australian premium lamb worldwide. Chef Lee Jung-hyun, the youngest master of Korean traditional cuisine and a culinary functional expert, is currently one of Korea's leading Lambassadors, actively promoting the allure of Australian lamb.

Australian Premium Lamb, A New Choice for Gourmets

Australian premium lamb is a high-quality ingredient carefully selected from lambs under 12 months old, raised on Australia's pristine pastures. It is characterized by its tender texture, savory flavor, rich nutrients including essential vitamins and minerals, and clean taste without gamey odor. Thanks to these advantages, it is gaining attention as a high-quality protein source that even those new to lamb can enjoy without hesitation. With increasing interest in healthy and unique ingredients in the Korean market, the consumption of Australian premium lamb is gradually rising in both the foodservice industry and households.

On the day of the event, Chef Lee Jung-hyun will personally be on-site to showcase his cooking and interact with visitors. The chef's demonstration is expected to go beyond food tasting, showing the diverse possibilities of Australian premium lamb.

Abundant Attractions and Events

In addition to the culinary experience, the 'Australian Premium Lamb Food Truck' event will feature various on-site participation programs. Visitors who take a photo at the 'Australian Premium Lamb Food Truck' booth located at the northern end of Jamsu Bridge and upload it to social media can taste the food truck menu for free.

Furthermore, a variety of programs are prepared, including a photo zone experience evoking the feel of the Australian Outback, prize events through menu authentication photos, and an Australian travel ticket event offering participants a chance to travel to Australia. Visitors can create special memories experiencing both Australian cuisine and culture in a picnic atmosphere.

Dane Richmond, Counselor for Trade and Investment at the Australian Embassy in Korea, stated, "This food truck event was planned to deliver the nutritional value and versatility of Australian premium lamb to Korean consumers in an easier and more delicious way." He added, "We hope you experience the new charm of lamb through the Lambassador's reinterpreted Bulgogi-style menu." He continued, "Especially in Korea, where wrapping with 'ssam' creates an excellent harmony with lamb, marinated lamb ribs have high potential in the Korean market. We look forward to seeing Australian premium lamb integrated into Korean cuisine in more diverse ways in the future." This statement reflects a deep understanding of the Korean market's characteristics and consumers' eating habits, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening the localization strategy for Australian premium lamb.

Overview of the '2025 Seoul Food Festival'

Celebrating its 11th year, the '2025 Seoul Food Festival' will offer a diverse culinary journey from May 24th to June 1st across various regions including Seoul, Jeju, Busan, Gyeongbuk, and Jeonnam. One of the festival's highlights, 'Picnic on the Bridge' on May 31st, is co-hosted with the Seoul Tourism Organization and will take place on Jamsu Bridge, a Seoul landmark, providing a unique experience for citizens.

The 'Seoul Food Festival' has established itself as a platform to taste food, experience the unique food culture and stories of each region, and encounter the latest culinary trends. As 'gourmet tourism' becomes an increasingly important factor for domestic and international tourists, the role of such international food festivals is becoming even more crucial. The 'Australian Premium Lamb Food Truck' event, which promotes food culture exchange between Australia and Korea, is expected to be a successful program of the '2025 Seoul Food Festival.'
